Guest chris[at]kerb[dot]co[dot]uk
Shakta / Bill And Seb - Questions / Into The Light Artist: Shakta / Bill And Seb Title: Questions / Into The Light Label: Dragonfly Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Shakta : Questions 02. Bill And Seb : Into !the Light Review: Side a is pretty much what you'd expect from Seb Taylor, brutally tight production and nice breakbeats - but yet again a sample gets overused - 'questions... questions...' etc. Like most of his recent offerings it's quite minimal/progressive but still rather well done. 6/10. The other side is quite weird, not at all what you'd expect (especially given that the 'Bill' in question is none other that Bill Halsey aka Cosmosis) - quite uplifting almost bordering on house-style, but, like the other side, very nicely produced. 7/10. I think these are both lifted from the Kamaflage album, and from what I've heard they're the 2 best tracks... What happened to the banging old Dragonfly?! Guest dj_auryn
well, if you listen to "space" by zodiac youth, you'll know dragonfly is still banging! Anyway, this is a cool 12", "questions" being one of the best tracks on shakta's new album. "into the light" is quite atmospheric with some funky synths courtesy of billy cosmosis at the end. It's a bit progressive, but not too much (i.e. no irritating wooooshy breakdowns), so it hasn't aged too badly since it's release
Guest wobblish[at]hotmail[dot]com
I agree with above that Questions is one of the best tracks on Shakta's new album Out of Sight, really well produced, and very powerful: Seb Taylor style. The track on the flipside is a really interesting one, uplifting but you can't call it cheese. It's one of those tracks that won't leave your head after the first introduction, pep pep pedebbe pep! The track is powerful yet gentle, prog trance for adults. It's a great track, but don't listen to it too much!
Guest djsupenrova[at]goatrance[dot]com
this EP is a gem. questions is a pretty good track, but into the light is sooo good. it's very clubby and will work very well towards the end of the party. has a very nice melody that leads the track through out with a beautiful breakdown. it's along the line of progressive/clubby stuff dragonfly's been releasing, so if that's not your thing, then pass. if you're into progressive, just get it. you'll find yourself playing it over and over again. 10/10 for into the light.
