Many local favorites show up here; first is the well known GMS (actually, GMS & Shanti Maktim), with new track Psycho Dotter. Very good track, better than usual from them... lots of liquidy acid sounds & a pushing feel. Lead synth is typical "Growly" stuff, great for the crowd (I know I'll be dancing to it), but the track ends too soon. Maybe they ran out of ideas? 2 begins with the sound of trickling water (always a popular theme), sequeing into a nice undulating bassline, stompy kick & electric noises. More effects-based, more random. 3 is kinda disorganised, but has this really cool leadline that reminds me of Aeternum's "Low Gravity" track (a killer!) 4 is from Siddhais, better known as Psychoid... old-school, riff-dominated Goa, just the way I like it. Production is a little quiet here, so crank it up! Track 5 (Eastern Sun) is uplifting, melodic & cohesive... one of the best here. Samples from Star Trek (it's the ep where Picard jumps between different time periods) give it a cool atmosphere. 6 is by Elogical - stupid-sounding name, but a good track, also very uplifting. Reminiscent of hard trance/hardcore, this is a total stomper from beginning to end - good work! Dynamic Duo's (Sebi + Maktim) track is forgettable - nice to see Sebi (GMS) making music again, though! To give it credit, the production is reallll slick, maybe the best on the disk... it just doesn't stand out to me. Track 8, more chaotic madness, & then we get to the really good stuff - Elogical's "Marz". I love this track, it has that spacious feeling I so crave in trance. Track 10 is melodic, acidy & happy, making for a nice high-energy finish. Overall, I was impressed with this debut from Agriglyph... there's lots of new talent here, and it represents a step forward for the L.A. psy scene. Best tracks: 1, 4, 5, 9... highly recommended for fans of traditional psychedelic trance. 7.5/
