mars
Lotus Omega - Recycle Bin Artist: Lotus Omega Title: Recycle Bin Label: Zillion Mental Anarchie Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'49" Mastermind 02. 11'18" Kuru Kuru 03. 08'21" Renegade 04. 09'01" Flower Of Life 05. 09'13" Beauty And The Beast 06. 12'32" Diwali 07. 08'03" Deep Sea Review: It's obvious that the guys of Lotus Omega don't often go out of Ibiza island, and they dont perform live easily. So here you have a sample of their inimitable style. This is a very brutal one, but what a madness on a dancefloor! Always remember (before you read the rest of the review) that -I- found this album very good And creative, but I believe many people wont think the same... we'll see later. I forgot to tell you: If you happen to suffer from heart trouble, call an ambulance before listening to this album! Moreover it should be listened to at once, from the begining to the end, imo. All the tracks are quite the same. here, no fine instruments, no nice bassline, no dancefloor-oriented kicks: everything is fat And hard. the rythm is always the same: a fast "bom-bom-bom-bom...", and imagine a set of weird noisy sounds over this. The melody?: scratchy & wobbly samples! Just like a chainsaw butchery. What's good in this? Ok: in each track there is quite a sort of magic thing that makes it an original piece of artwork, something that makes you dance even if your ears sense it's horrible. Just lively! The tracks now: 1 "Mastermind" is one of the worst ones. Quite good, a good control of all the instruments, and a good moving transition at the end that's all. 2 "Kuru Kuru" is like a militray tune. Imagine you're crushed by a tank regiment. So many good wobbly sounds... Now you understand the sense of the title of the album. really excellent. 3 "Renegade" is a bit like Kuru Kuru minus the delicacy! You can hear twisting sounds everywhere, destroying breaking patterns full of noisy & computer sounds. a very good work on the drumloops. 4 "Flower of Life" operates a change in the rythm of the album: now you're on lightspeed. The rythm is vert fast & soft, still a bit military, but the sounds behind this are twisting everywhere, entering by one ear, coming out by the other....wow!! There is an excellent sequence of pure dancefloor atmosphere at 7:00. impossible to describe this piece...rhaaa...incredible. 5 "Beauty and the Beast" returns to the first style of the album, a bit like Mastermind. I don't understand this track although there are really good psychedelic souds sometimes. Maybe it's because the rythm is a bit shifted... 6 "Diwali" is a bit like Flower of Life. The kicks arrange nicely with the rest of the 'instruments'. some sounds are falling, as if the synths had bugged, and sometimes you remind of the little sounds you liked in Crop Circles tracks. 7 "Deep Sea" is amazing: it's ambient. but NOT ANY form of ambient: it's Lotus Omega ambient. this track consists in a cool melody that repeats everytime, with a very cool rythm compared to what you've listened to before. Sometimes there are remainings of the weird sounds from the rest of the album. At the end another cool melody adds to the first. It's refresing. Ok, it's not a masterpiece of ambient, but you can apreciate to end on this cool note. My final opinion is that if you like very hard psychedelic trance, without compromises, this album is for you. If you're more delicate...you'll die before the end. This album looks a bit like the Hux Flux one. As for me, i liked it a lot: 7.5/10>>express message to MM d'Amato & Scrimizzi: Stop smoking chillum on Beniras, guys! Come And perform live in France please!>>
Guest Nico_Steinacker[at]hotmail[dot]c
Track 4 7:00 is really the best passage - it´s fast and hard. The rest of the album is just good. - Rate: 7,2/10 *no fun* - VJ LOGIC.
Guest ChrisdeeACiD
This is as hard and pumping goa gets! The hardest and most psycho goa I've ever heard! ... Get this psycho shit right away...
Guest Cnt97
Not very well mastered. The soundpicture is very "closed" and I get the feeling that the recording is recorded in too high volume. This is a good album otherwise! I'd like to see a re-mastered version

Anoebis
This CD is really psycho for sure... But too many songs go absolutely wrong... But 2 songs are very good on this CD imo!!! Beauty and the Beast is a killer!! I played it on a party and everybody went crazy!!! The other good song is the last one which is downtempo and not really Trance. I would give it 6/10. Guest Timothy Yarret
pretty shitty production innit? lo fi punk rok trance though some of the tunes are pretty good, esp. 'mastermind'+ 'deep sea' . the former being one of the most demented trance tunes i know of, if the rest was all that crazy spasticated style then i would like this album a lot more, as it is it actually gets quite tedious and painful to listen, i don't if i could handle seeing them live if only because theyd be playing on a huge soundsystem
Guest [Anonymous]
KILLER ALBUM !!! 11/10.
Guest will
Hercules and friends must be commended for releasing a full album of the most elusive trance act. Lotus Omega remained for years with their best tracks only on DAT although there were several releases and collaborations on various compilation CDs. Indeed Lotus Omega make really hard underground tripped out music which some may not appreciate but i really love it and some of their DAT tracks rocked the Greek Scene for several years. ZMA is definately a good representative for the Greek scene worldwide which is maybe under appreciated but has been kicking ass for many years now. The parties this summer should definately open a few eyes. Unfortunately this CD is not a comprehensive release, there are some tracks from the early days such as Daffy Duck, Don't Think and other tracks which remain as Lotus Omega - ??? on DAT tapes worldwide which should be released for general consumption now as they are definately played out in the party scene. So Hercules can you hear us?
Trance2MoveU
Artist: Lotus Omega Title: Recycle Bin Label: Zillion Mental Anarchie Records Date: February, 2000 01. 07'49" Mastermind02. 11'18" Kuru Kuru03. 08'21" Renegade04. 09'01" Flower Of Life05. 09'13" Beauty And The Beast06. 12'32" Diwali07. 08'03" Deep Sea So this is what happened to the guys after Crop Circles broke up? The debut album of Lotus Omega and it's the type of noisy crap you would expect in the year 2000. This is like breaking up with a chick and later that night seeing on the news she robbed a 7-11 and took hostages. Was the b*tch always this crazy? Did they all of a sudden become allergic to melodies? Maybe I'm playing it at the wrong speed. It's one thing to make an annoying track, but to make them go on forever...that's just a blatant f*ck you to everyone. The first two tracks seemed like months of my life I'll never get back. I believe it's entirely possible they decided to make the worst music they possibly could just to see who would buy it. In which case kudos to them, that's f*cking funny. If dubsteb is the sound of robots humping then this is the sound of that awkward moment when the male robot attempts to get outta there after hitting it. It's got a gritty underground sound and while most of the time that's a compliment...I'm going the other way. Everything is modulated and nothing is memorable. I just listened to it, but I couldn't tell you one track from another. This is what the feds use when they want to break down terrorists. Etnica's gotta be laughing their ass off. The second halves of Beauty and the Beast and Diwali showed promise with actual melodies, but not enough to make me want to hear it again. Even the downtempo track at the end sounded like it didn't want to be here. I know music is all about taste, but this tastes like a sh*t sandwich. Penzoline
I must admit it's really hard to get into a style like this but goddamn, something about it tickles my fancy. Maybe it's the fact it indeed could be another one of those ultra minimalistic glitch-fests but somehow it reeks of fantastic dark goa layers instead(Lots of wetness) while being grooooOOoovey. Hard to recommend to anyone but the die hard psychedelic lovers. These tracks are a perfect fit in the middle of an old school psychedelic mix where things really take a turn into the crazy nighttime flavours. A weird release no doubt especially considering it's timing! I just wish it had more prints because as of now the album sells for ~100 euros and even with it's history, it's not really worth THAT much.
