Guest Pit-UFO
Great job by Cass. James Monro CD couldn?t capture his expertise behind the decks; there are some good tunes but nothing memorable in his set. CD1 6.5/10 CD2 9/
Guest Ktaadn
In this day and age of everyone screaming, "Sellout!" when an artist gets some recognition, it's good to see that the FR guys don't give a fuck. Their tracks are as popular among progressive-trance DJ's as with the psychedelic scene, and for good reason -- cos' it's wicked music. This 2-CD set delivers a tasty sampling of the forward-looking side of FR. I have to agree with Pit-UFO, Cass offers up a stomping set from front to back, but James' set is no slouch either. If psy-trance is your usual poison but you're up for checking out some new sounds, this is the one. Disc 1 7.5/10, Disc 2 9/
Guest Smg
Oh shite. Few words...dub and mix are pretty heavily used here. There are like ten different tracks, and another ten remixes and dubs made out of them. Doesn't really amuse me. And another thing...tracks are transitioned using beat-to-beat. You know...all of the intros (which are sometime very important, and even the spirit of the tune) are cut out. Practically it turns from the kick of the tune #3 to the kick of tune #4, for instance. I don't like this kind of mixing, just imagine how would AP's Mahadeva sound without this divine chorus in the beginning, it's the soul of the whole song, goddamnit. That's just one example. I really have no faves here, and most the tracks are boring. I don't know is it just me or the Flying Rhino, but I don't like this. I advice you not to buy this album. If I would have to pick, I'd say CD#1 is better, since it has few ok songs, like Hallucinogen's mix of "Lunar Juice". I give 4/10 for this compil. Rhino should have no wings, since it fell high this time ;(. Bad, bad, bad...
Guest rumz
bad bad bad.... the rhino fell from the sky... this comp just never really seems to get going... Theres big names it just doesnt seem to work that well.. Guest mikefdwyer[at]yahoo[dot]co[dot]u
This is an awesome compilation of tracks and remixes blended perfectly by two top dj's. The beatmatching is great so that it is awesome to play when you wanna dance. All the tracks are so well produced and it is all so crystal clear it just makes me relax and wanna listen endlessly. Guest Weird Planet Earth
This mixed compilation is damn good. The first cd is full of perfect sounding, driving old shcool psytrance. The mixing is seemless and th effect is wicked, an absolute party killer this would be to hear live. The second cd is much a club cd, in my opinion. It think in some ways it is the better of the two seeing as it e a risk taker with some dubby beats at the start and some more deep house type remixes. All in all a very nice compilation, and one to be proud of for sure!!
seraph
Good compilation with nice mixing...james Monro and Cass were taking us on a journey into FLYING RHINO history and they do manage to do what they wanted...No wonder...Heheh..The best tracks are CD 1 : BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, UNOBTANIUM, WINDCHIME, MICROMEGA, THE WIZARD, KLEIN ABER DOCTOR, LUNAR JUICE...8/10 Cass done very good work too with best tracks : LONESOME, MORPH 001, MICROMEGA, CYCLOTHYMIC, MEPHISTO'S CHILD, LICENSE TO SLINK ( ! ), RUMBLING TOON...8.5/
abasio
A really good compilation from Flying Rhino, a showcase of their more progressive style after they changed from the supercharged goa of the First Flight era. Smooth, atmospheric goodness all the way through. I love it/ Favourites: Klein Aber Doctor, Confusional State, Mephisto's Child, License to Slink... but they're all good and I think well mixed
