Guest Stormbringer
Deedrah - Reload Artist: Deedrah Title: Reload Label: Hadshot Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Reload 02. Manley Hazard Review: Which track was the best one from year 2000? I can´t really choose between "Microwave" by Steve Active (Stefan Keller)(see the EP-section for my review) or "Reload" by Deedrah. They´re very different so I´ll stick to having them both as number one :-) "Reload" (10/10) has everything a full-on track should have. Even though I´ve listened to "Reload" so many times now I still can´t get enough of it, and when I first heard this track I was really blown away. I don´t like to give the grade 10/10 to every single good record out there because I think the 10/10 should be reserved for classics only. I mean records that I will play until I die!!! Trust me when I say that this track is something very special. It has worked it´s way up to my top ten of all times and maybe it will stay there forever? As I said, "Reload" has it all if you like energetic, melodic psytrance. The beginning is dark and threatening with a women singing and you can really feel that it´s going to explode soon. When it does, I just can´t sit down! Then it slows down again to reload some energy and some string instruments plays a sad melody. You understand you´ll not have to wait too long for the beat to come back and then it builds, builds, builds, builds, builds... until you almost can´t take it anymore. You might feel afraid that your arteries in your head will break, but don´t be! Thats just normal and I´ve survived listening to "Reload" hundreds of times. The long sweeping synthsounds on top of everything drives me insane and when the track slows down again you think it´s over, but instead you realize you´ll have to take another peak of brutal energy directed straight at you. After that rush your body probably tries to tell you to slow down, so when the track fades away you probably feel happy it´s over... sucker!!! "Reload" reloads one more time and then it´s finally over. If you want to have this track don´t buy the vinyl of Deedrahs last album "Reload" because you´ll not find it there! Buy the CD-release instead or this 12" if you can find it. There is a remix of this track too by GMS (on Deedrahs release "Far And Away") but the original beats that remix. The b-side "Manley Hazard" (4/10) is slow tech-housey stuff that may work in a club, but I don´t like it.
Basilisk
Wow did I ever get this one wrong. From my original review: i don't think it has what it takes to become a classic. reload is oft quoted as THE tune of 2001... will that STILL be the case in 2004? Wrong! This is certainly THE tune of 2001. Without question. It setup the development out of minimal into the full-on craze which has continued unabated for half a decade now. The importance of this tune cannot be understated... I've always been merely lukewarm on it (hence my initial skepticism) but I will not deny that its influence has been massive. Guest Defbydelta...
I think reload and the remix is very very simular to each other. but i cant say which off the how is the best.. but GMS remix has a wonderful beginning but ends up a little more boring than the original.. 9/
