max
Ticon - Rewind Artist: Ticon Title: Rewind Label: Digital Structures Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 10'35" You Can Have My Fraggies 02. 10'01" Gurk Burk 03. 07'56" Wank The Skank 04. 08'10" 2 Steps Forward And 1 To The Left 05. 08'00" The Cozy Cactus 06. 09'26" We Are The Mammoth Hunters 07. 08'52" Super Model Girlfriend 08. 07'01" Play My Boy 09. 08'23" Mona Bone Review: Well, this is Ticon's debut album. You like Ticon ? You'll like the album as hell since you find inside every details that defines Ticon's style...Huge work on rythmics, deep deep groovee bass, congas riffs and so on. Is that all ? NO ! Of course their style have a bit evolved, sometimes in a good way sometimes in a more weirdo way. The first track is simply amazing...Exactly what u can expect from them + some surprises like EQ effects...it's really pumping...the begining is only high frequencies then suddenly.....WAOOOOOUF....the bass waves...the drums psychedelia...very good. The second track is good...energic, pumping...the sound production is less loud than usually and the sound appears to be clearer and much more fun to listen...great. Third track is 50/50...i hate the beginning too too minimalistic...you know...nothing but beats...bass is so weak you can't really appreciate it...and the end is very good with twisted sound less housy than the one they use usually...they should try more this way. 4th Track is 100% party shaped...no surprises inside...but efficient...not really for home. Fifth Track is a low tempo..i would say 130 or something...it takes time for you to dig inside but the end is a pure hypnotic moment with....melodies & lot of layers...unusual form ticon...very surprising in the positive way... 6Th track is my favourite...Over boosted Ticon, bass distorted but not too much as X-Dream likes to do, incredible breaks...the best track from them i've heard so far. 7Th Track is also fast...don't worry it's not happy hardcore yet i mean it's fast for Ticon...maybe 143/144. This track is builts on killers, absolutlety killers samples...taken from movies i guess...they fit very well in the cd. 8th Track is a bit boring...really boring i would say...and that's bad because they used a very good bass...let's forget it. 9th Mona Bone...Released in a previous EP of the same name...it liked it a lot when it was released but now the others tracks of the Cds depreciate it. Which is not a really bad thing. It's a good cd that will definitely raise Ticon in the Scando stuff Hall Of Fame. This is the kind of minimalism i like...without too much emphasis on drums like 3.Turn for instance...7.5 /10 (I would have given 8.5 if 2 tracks weren't already released)
Guest greg
i do i find this b.o.r.i.n.g.... its not effective at all i think... lots of work behind it, but still boring.

Guest iNFiNiTi500
Oops, they killed Atmos and the Swedish trance god has reincarnated as ...Ticon. Clue, this album smells like HEADCLEANERISM. The bad news is: it is just as excellent, the good news is: it sounds an awfully lot like that eh Swedish guy since they share the same preference for A: long and slow tracks B: heavy rhythms C: some occasional club influence and D: don't care that each track somewhat sounds the same but that is part of the hypnotic experience, baby. Well, taste some healthy cynism here, but if I was that Swedisch -self-proclaimed-trance-God i would lose sleep overnight cause "Rewind"(even the title hints at plagiarism) is miles better than a certain Flying Rhino cashcow named "OVERLAP" so get your godlike lazy ass back in the studio and create a REAL follow-up to HEADCLEANER cause this TICON is the new King of Scandoland. Best tracks: 1,2 and 5. Highly recommendable...
Guest omri
its not about competition you ass. guys like u make the scene more commerical, u can be as cynical as u want but whats the connection between atmos and ticon except they are both swedish? NOTHING!. its not like the whole swedish scene should hail ticon or something. and maybe if he's better than atmos in your opinion its not like atmos should "..lose sleep overnight..", hehe, u made it sound like war. well dude, keep fighting and you might be the next che guevara of the trance scene in swedish. shahar@isratrance
Since the first time I heard Ticon with Rattle-Snake, Lolli-Pop from Hadshot, I knew I'm waiting for more and more, and after their releases on most of the major labels proved me right, I was really waiting for this album. Well... it was worth the wait! All the things that grabbed me in Ticon's music are here: the amazing percussion work, the tribal feel, the patient build, the groove, the emotions, and the ability to hold the story for 10 minutes. This release has more of the clubby/deep feel to it (a lot of floating sequences, dubby style), than the open technoish sounds, but it doesn't effect the very good experience. It starts with You Can Have My Fraggles, a soft caressing scando-progressive beat, laid on a massive bumpy-jumpy kick, building up slowly slowly. A great opener and a massive pre-dawn/noon tribal nature party hit. Gurk Burk (T2) continues with great tribal percussive work, very hypnotic, and in a total forest atmosphere, until the clubby break- good track, but I would love to hear a more psychedelic and rough mix for it. With Wank the Skank (T3), groovy is the word! A tribal-tech piece in the vein of Teenage Witch Bitch, but with a bit more power- I see my tribe around me with this one. Well now.. you all just stand in line and everyone together now- it?s 2 Steps Forward and 1 to the Left- a refreshing cute morning tune- gotta smile! Follows a proof that when the Scandos want to really touch you inside, they just hit the spot (see Noma with Another Time & Soon)- The Cozy Cactus is a moving caressing emotional track- my favorite here- but that?s because I'm a hopeless old emotional bastard. Best to send your party people home with a yearning in their heart. We Are the Mammoth Hunters (T6) is on the rough side of this CD- A massive Neanderthal hunting journey with a mammoth kick- stomp the snow! I played this in a party, and I swear the ground was moving- and we were on a top of a mountain! (or was it just an old petrified mammoth getting a bit scared?). The Super Model Girlfriend (T7) has a real dubby progressive scando feel to it, a complete change of direction, maybe a little too much, but still a very powerful track in a subtle touching way- club country here. Play My Boy (T8) has a technoish feel again, but with a dubby touch- fast and funky, and very happy. Mona Bone closes the CD with the Ticon tribal feel I love so much, leaving me with a taste for more- guess I'll press "play" again. Bottom Line: Get It! Ticon are my favorite Swedish act, Rewind is a real joy- beautifully built, with the right amounts of everything, making it a perfect home listen and a great source for party hits. And a good word for the "touch me" cover- touch it! Favorites: 1, 3, 4(!), 5(!), 6(!), 7, 8.

Guest wouterspace[at]hotmail[dot]com
Wank the Swank!!!!! oh my GAWD!!!!!! This is un-fuckin-believable (pardon my french!) I just heard it so I don't know if it keeps exciting me but I do know that FOR THIS MOMENT this is the best piece of tribalistic stompede I ever heard 8) Play this loud at an outdoor party and you and the rest of the tribe will venture back in time. Their music seems minimal but it isn't! Their songstructures are minimalsitic but that's what true TRANCE is all about in the first place. Their tracks sneak up on you...you might think "this gets kinda boring and repetitve", but before you know it you totally loose yourself in their bouncing, rolling grooves filled with subtle percussive klicks, licks and tricks. The trick is: PLAY LOUDER!! 8) TICON are the new masters of groove...at least untill the release of the Son Kite album 8)
Guest Baboon
my latest cd...and a very good one! this is really my style... 8/
GaySatanicHippie
This is what real trance should sound like. Its not really psychedelic trance, but pure hypnotic trance, with tribal rhythms and warm deep sounds floating around everywhere. Ticon manages to make you loose yourself in their music with such ease and skill, everything sounds perfect and everything flows. Just sit down and let yourself get swept away!! My favourites are Tracks 1,4,5,6,7 but No 6 "Mammoth Hunters"and No.7 "Super Model Girlfriend' stand out. No.6 is a trip back to the ice ages with heavy rhythms, Mammoth screaming and intense "boiuungs" stampeding across the soundscapes. No.7 is simply one of the most beautiful tracks I have heard in a while, it's like a wet dream of my Super Model Girlfriend, Great!! 9,5/10, Great CD!!!. Guest [Anonymous]
Yeeehaa! Ticon has made an exellent album. If you like old Goa trance or melodic psychedelic trance, dont bother to buy this album. But if you like proggressive scandinavian trance at its best, go buy it now. Best trax are: We are the mammoth hunters, Gurk burk, Cozy cactus. I rate it 9,5/10. Guest rx7style
Hmmm, good debut album. Not very "in your face", but enjoyable none the less. Pick this album up! 7.5/
Guest rx7style
I should probably add to that review, as it was kind of short. Track 1: enjoyable, but unproductive. Too minimal [i usually like minimal!], nothing really stands out because the sounds don't contrast enough. Track 2: really boring. This track goes nowhere, has a smooth melody about 2/3 in, but other than that, damn boring. Track 3: really cool beats! Kind of funky if you ask me, still very minimal and unproductive, but a good dance tune. Track 4: boring. Track 5: cheese all over this one. Terribly simple synth tones in this that are really boring, and sound like they are from the eighties. Track 6: this track is great. Great beats; deep and rythmic, and some cool effects. Track 7: sucks. Repetative, boring, my word -- why did I rate this album so high above?? This is definately club, commercialized crap. Track 8: The bassline reminds me of something from The Art Of Trance, pretty boring too, but better than most of the others on this CD.******************************************************************** I guess I really have to change my review above. When I first listened to this, I thought it was cool, and I was really enjoying the beats. Upon further study, and a pair of headphones, I found this album totally dry, boring, repetative, and WAY TOO MINIMAL! This album is crap. 3/
Guest rx7style
Oh yeah, Track 9: great drums, nice breaks, cool deep sounds, but still too minimal and kind of boring.
tbe
Very very very good album. One of the best release from 2001. Nothing too minimal here & nothing too cheese too... If you like Atmos, Vibrasphere style, buy Ticon Album. 9/

Guest [Anonymous]
Excellent from start to finish.
Guest [Anonymous]
Minimal? There is nothing "minimal" about this. So many sounds and layers and interesting changes and so on. This album is solid. I mean every track is good. You can put it on and listen from beginning to end. Now that's quality. The songs are varied but have a similar feel to them at the same time. Overall, it has a beautiful, deep, hypnotic feel to it. Very nice.
Guest Acidhive
Great stuff here, this is somewhat minimal, but like annonymous says... It still has a lot of different layers and so on. But still, this should be classified as minimal IMO. I'd give this 8/10 for it's funkiness. Can get samey though if you listen to all of it in one go.. But: crystal clear sound production (like all Digital Structures releases) and a lot of dancibility!!
Guest [Anonymous]
ticon-fucking excellent work, what more can i say? this is what progressive trance should sound like!
Guest Szandor
Lovely work here from Ticon, definately great Scando artists here, and at such a young age i'm definately anticipating more of their work, great production too! Fuck downloading it,buy it!
Guest Goa Spirit
Typical scando sound release by Ticon./.. this one is very accessible and can be enjoyed by everyone... slightly minimal in the scando style (but not as minimal as other european stuff).... i liked it, but soon forgot about it.. come on guys.. atmos- headcleaner is much better than this.. i don't know but i got a bit of a housey feel with this album... nevertheless its a good piece of work, wven if it does not match headcleaner or headware... good tracks here are 1, 6 and 7.. a solid 7/10.... peace
