Guest Sienis
Eraser Vs Yojalka - Round One Artist: Eraser Vs Yojalka Title: Round One Label: Exogenic Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 05'33" Reunion 02. 06'17" Illalla 03. 05'46" BBQ U 04. 08'13" Ghost Train 05. 06'04" Quosick 06. 07'40" Weekend Warrior 07. 06'36" This Level 08. 06'32" Rassaa Munkabu 09. 06'42" Mutual Ritual 10. 07'15" Rum And Bases Review: it´s 0600 in the morning and after waking up from this C.S.I 'nightmare' with vicious bees and shit....(don´t ask i decided to give this a review as so many keep complaining about less reviews and not doing shit about it...(sluta jiddra, börja trolla!) Not Wasting any time on an intro Eraser vs Yöjalka starts pumping immediately with Track01 'ReUnion' !!! Gotta love this...Funky as hell, just as i like it...awesome layering and phatass drumming....with a taste of the goa spirit in it..great track to start off the album with... Track02 'Illalla' is my ABSOLUTE vafourite on this album...heavy bassline and kick with again (and for the rest of this album) AWESOME drumming..then after building up with various sounds and fx comes the very main reason i love this track...now THIS is EVIL with the taste of SPOOKY GNORLY TROLLZ tripping in the woods!!!!! my definition of a PHATASS melody...as the trackname Illalla means "In The Evening" this surely is to be friggin played at that time or at night...absolute chillgiver for me...and from nowhere they guys throw in an oldschool goa melo to finish off the track!!! heh...i can go on forever about this one Track03 'BBQ U' continues in the same mood as Illalla....not as spooky but heavy and phat...now goes oldschool again in that new way...it´s kinda impossible to describe for me but this is definetly no oridinary goa or anything... Track04 'Ghost Train' ...heehe...."ALL ABOARD!!!!!" is what i think hearing that train *choo choo* sample...this time we go all d'n'b style drummin!!! with great pads and layering....one of the better trax here...after 3mins comes the steady bassdrum to steady things up to normal beat....after the middle twisted part comes the end part to bring this track to the fullest....these guys totally squeeze every last drop from this one.... Track05 'Quosick' what can i say?....as i´m not 100% familiar with what u call this kinda sound i call it d'n'd beats...movie musik style breakbeat track!!! with again a taste of goa melos.... Track06 'Weekend Warrior' It´s only getting harder here..."tearingthingsapart"- sounds with a weridass bassline =)...starts evil ans goes more dreamy in an evil way as these drums are again phat as f**k. Track07 'This Level' Less bpm on this one....doesn´t start off too good in my opinion with this weirdo melody but i guess i´m not in the right state of mind for it hmm....ok after hearing this whole track i realize this isn´t made in the mindstate i am either ) ...flippes out in the end with a sliding synthsound all guitarsolo style...not really my kinda track... Track08 'Rassaa Munkabu' heheh....kool melos with spugebeatz n soundz...what more can u ask for?! faster tempo and nice mood over the whole thing and a crazyass ending...sweetness!!!.... Track09 'Mutual Ritual' more bpm more bpm and .....more bpm ) being a part of this ritual would make me sweat like a pig...again great drumming and noises...great phatted up melody and layering in this one... Track10 'Rum and Basses' as the trackname says...d'n'b beats for ya! great mood in this one really...pads, choirs n melodies rock...this one takes me to the deep jungles after the mutual ritual for an afterparty...this album could not have ended more perfectly!!! =D I give it 9/10.....reason for not giving it 10 is that the mastering could´ve been better...and some sounds could´ve sounded more phat...i´m real picky with sound so don´t mind me really...this is an AWESOME album if you want something out of the ordinary oomph...this has got Eraser and Yöjalka all over it!!! moods + innovation + phatass drummin!!! Guest Jacob
Hey ho, Sienis. Just to clear things up, you have been listening to the unmastered version which was put on the net by a group of half-witted clowns. Very naughty of you. You should get the real mastered version with the full 11 tracks and strawberry man artwork. It rocks even more.
Somseensee
Artist: Eraser vs Yöyalka Title: Round 1 Year: 2002 Label: Exogenic Records Tracklisting: 1 Reunion (5:30) 2 BBQ U (5:45) 3 Illalla (6:06) 4 Ghost Train (8:10) 5 Quosick (6:02) 6 Hattivatti (6:21) 7 Weekend Warrior (7:39) 8 This Level (6:36) 9 Rassah Munkabu (6:28) 10 Mutual Ritual (6:39) 11 Rum And Bases (7:14) Introduction Eraser vs Yöyalka (round 1): Probably most of you know the suomi style music that gets released at a nice rate these days. Well these guys were in that boat fairly early (not as fast a TF and squaremeat etc ofcourse). In 2002 they released this round 1 album and it is actually a very nice piece of psychedelic music that has been released in a time which seems very crowded with progressive and a massive rise of full on music. They use deep psychedelic melodies and have some heavy bassline oriented tracks. It is Psy , sometimes melodic, sometimes twisted and deep. it has darkish touch and flow going through it. Enough variation on drums and bass without going in to random. The samples, melodies and bleeps are overall well placed and form nice build ups to deep explosions of energy and sound. Those sounds are mostly well packaged in very atmospheric background sound, that seems to drag all sounds into some direction(s). The better environment for this would be an old castle with a nice centre square and lots of old artifacts to make it feastly whole or deep in the woods at night. Surely for me ½ of it is very night stylish and only seems to kick deep when it is dark. The Music: • Reunion: This tracks kicks fairly hard and has a nice and long build up. It has lots of bleeps and twists going through it to keep you busy. It’s a one of the more funky tracks that has enough melodic ups and a fast stomping ending. • BBQ U: We have a more heavy track to digest here. It kicks hard again and has less bleeps but longer melodic sounds. It’s psychedelic and it fills the room, it has nice melodic peaks and lots of sounds going around the main ending melodic part. • Illalla: Well we continue with the heavy bass part here but this tracks seems to drive harder for me. This is a track with an attitude and has some weird deep melodies that really work well on me. The rising ending melody is deep and goes high, nothing fluffy but very uplifting stuff. This itches and shakes the floor around. Fantastic! • Ghost Train: I surely prefer this train above the Orient Express… We have a more or less broken bassline here. Although it doesn’t kick straight forward it has enough power to keep you moving. Lots of bleeps and twists going around in this one and a surely enjoy the overwhelming melodic sounds that make it fit together. This tracks has lots of variety and keeps surprising till the end. Excellent! • Quosick: The tracks lacks a straight forward bassline and makes this less appropriate for the dancefloor in my opinion. But Hell this is melodic psychedelic stuff that makes my mind go far out of reality. Strange twists and melodic worms going that eat your brain. • Hattivatti: Hehe once again a more funky track with a jumpy bassline and well placed melodic highs. Lots of variation and fairly easy to digest, nice for a sunny walk. • Weekend Warrior: Well not my favorite at all, a bit dry imo and depends hard on some distorted electric sounding samples. It isn’t that bad overall, but it lacks sounds that pull me in . • This level: Maybe a bit more abstract than the first half of the album, but doesn’t mean this is bad. • Rassah Munkabu: Again a more funky one, but this one seems to go fast. It builds fast and the melodic parts are short but good. I like it, strange quirking stuff that comes and goes. As most tracks on this album the ending always has some explosion or makes it all come together. • Mutual Ritual: Fast moving sounds again that come and go and mostly make there entrance at the right moment. Good stuff. • Rum and Bases: Well drum and bass… Like the atmospheric sound sometimes but this is not my kind of music in the end. Conclusion: The album is a necessary piece that deserves its place in every psyhead’s music collection. It’s suomi style and experiments enough without going too abstract. It also has that forest style darkish magic touch (atmosphere) that makes the melodic parts deep and daring enough. My personal favs are hard to choose but 3 and 4 are very strong. Tracks 7 and 11 I dislike the most, but besides those 2 I actually enjoy them all. Final point: 9/
Ormion
Best album of 2002 and one of the best I have. (And definitely better than Tarinat IMO). All tracks are Great but Reunion, Illalla, This Level, Rassahy Munkabu and Mutual Ritual are unbelievable. The last minute of Reunion is one of the best moments in Psy-Trance ever! 10/10 easily. Uli Uber
thx for the feedback,- nice to know you r feeling like that cause at our sets since 03 we`ve only been playing 2nd and 3rd album trx and unrlsd ones... There is some too complicated, packed and badly thought strangely vibed moments for me in our early trax but that has to be a part of the making process between now and then... boooommmmmm! -eraser-

I still have to order it from saikosounds, but I have heared it at a friend a few times and it seems to kick , so I guess I'll enjoy it even more after some deeper listening. Anyway Hope to see you play someday in Beligium or maybe next year on a Suomi festival or something like that. Keep up the excellent weirdness/funkyness in the music Adios Sam
