Guest Globalsteez Posted April 22, 2000 Posted April 22, 2000 Quirk - Sale Of The Century / Coginitive Dissidents Artist: Quirk Title: Sale Of The Century / Coginitive Dissidents Label: Chaos Unlimited Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Sale Of The Century 02. Cognitive Dissidents Review: I've made a point of reviewing this 12" because I beleive it to be shockingly bad. You've probably heard the 1st track at a party sampling I think Ocean Colour Scene (even more guitaryness!) It's the kind of tune Mark Allen saves till the end of his set, drops it then most people go pretty mad. So what's the problem then? It's not bloody well in the least psychedelic trance to my ears. It's like pop trance if there ever should be such a thing. Just a little bit too catchy if you like. As for the B-side? It's one of the most embarasing pieces of psy trance I've heard in ages. Starts off ok and ends up a pile of tacky uninspired weasel shite with really annoying noises which grate upon the brain. I hope that Quirl find their form again soon because they really were, that's WERE, one of my favourites. 3/10 for the A side and naff all (0) for the b-side. I wished I'd saved my £7 and bought some flowers for my mum or something. BAD QUIRK!! TO YOUR BED!!! Quote

Guest [Anonymous] Posted November 22, 2000 Posted November 22, 2000 Kicks ass! First time i heard the sale of the century at a party everybody went totally nuts(including myself) so it pretty much did what it was ment to do;) Quote
Guest AtomicCow Posted January 17, 2001 Posted January 17, 2001 I just wanted to point out that Cognitive Dissidents is a club in one of William Gibson's novel's (can't remember which one...Neuromancer? Virtual Light?) Good books. Sorry if this was a bit irrelevant. Quote
Guest Isra-Alien Posted January 19, 2001 Posted January 19, 2001 Cognitive Dissidents is from '96 so of course it sounds old! but it still one great tune, so don't listen to the top review. Quote
Guest therumz[at]hotmail[dot]com Posted February 3, 2001 Posted February 3, 2001 The original Single Coginitive dissidents and Dimension disco on Krembo in 1996 was AMAZING... Guest jperzzon[at]telia[dot]com Posted April 16, 2001 Posted April 16, 2001 This 12" is amazin', two different tracks which both works on the dancefloor! I love this//Qwato Quote
Guest [Anonymous] Posted September 13, 2001 Posted September 13, 2001 cognitive dissidents is one of the best tracks ever... Quote
Guest Moog Spectral Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Rare bad records are for Wax collectors and not for music keepers. Sound Collectors, get the Krembo release with original Cognitive Dissidents" and "Dimension Disco", which is a quality tune widely compiled by DJ's like Goa Gil, Sid Shanti..and really hard to get nowadays, unfortunately. Sale of the century is not worth the price for rarity. Quote
Guest Rumz Posted April 26, 2002 Posted April 26, 2002 Moog, I could not agreemore.... the original 12" is incredible i bought it when it came out and it is STILL my favourite vinyl, and My favourite tracks...I WISH SO MUCH that quirk would do something like this again Quote
