Halosian Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 Xervana - Samples From A Virtual Life Artist: Xervana Title: Samples From A Virtual Life Label: Tsunami Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 8'45" A New Life 02. 7'13" Specimen 03. 7'48" Frustrations 04. 9'07" Synthetic Body 05. 7'46" Neutralization Of Mind 06. 8'23" Behind The Hidden 07. 9'15" The Wicked Chosen 08. 9'24" End Of Life Review: Once I saw that Tsunami Productions was about to release a new album from a new, unknown artist, I just had to check it out considering all the great releases from that label lately. This is typical, classical Goa in the genre of Astral Projection, sometimes it even sounds almost like certain melodies was ripped of their material. Still, this is high quality trance, which is the music I first fell in love with. What really struck me is the age of the composer, only 18 years of age(!) I won't dare to imagine what he will be able to create in a few years from now... This is a very nice debut from a younger lad from Sweden. From the spectrum of Goa, psy, heading towards some more commercial liked tracks. A good use of mixed filters blending together, just as it should. Track number 3 "Neutralization Of Mind", is my favourite. Reminds me alot of Pleiadians, great stuff! The weakness of "Samples From A Virtual Life" is as mentioned earlier, the non-innovative melodies, maybe Xervana has looked too much on other artists work? The Strength is the quality of the use of sounds and melodies and are all very well composed. If you like isratrance then you should definately take a look at this album. If not, don't. I, myself still love isratrance so the choice of wether to buy this one or not was not too hard (especially nowadays when it seemes like almost everyone is going for the more monotonish, technoish, in my opinion kind of boring trance). For being only 18 years of age this is far better then Astral Projection (or anyone else for that matter). I can't imagine that anyone has succeded in producing such quality trance at that age. But still one has to bare in mind that Astral and such was pioneers in the genre and so it took some years for them to develope the Astralsound we are so familiar with today. Nowadays they are copied by many and that's not so hard when you're able to refer to thoose materials which has already been released. But if Xervana continues releasing tracks and tries to go on his own path of style, then I'm sure we will experience some extraordinary music from him in the future, the quality is already here! 7/10. Guest [Anonymous] Posted December 12, 2001 Posted December 12, 2001 My opinion: xervana is available for a while now on MP3.com, and it has never hit my head during the listenings i've accorded to it... Ok, nice soundz, but why do Tsunami release an album like this in 2001???? Quote
Guest [Anonymous] Posted December 13, 2001 Posted December 13, 2001 This would have kicked ass if it was still 1996. Well produced and oldschool. But I'm sorry, it's soon 2002. Quote
Guest Syefone8 Posted January 7, 2002 Posted January 7, 2002 old school never die but in our memories not producing an old school alboom in 2002 please try to improve things and be much better than in the past Quote

Guest sublunar[at]earthling[dot]net Posted July 21, 2002 Posted July 21, 2002 You should check out some of this guys newer tracks, talk about hi quality! I'm waiting for his next album! Quote
Guest Onyxura Posted September 5, 2002 Posted September 5, 2002 People complaint about this being oldschool, and people ask why this was released in 2001. Is it because it has melodies? Is it because it is not just a bassdrum with some weird sounds put around them? I think this album is a rare jewel theese days. Excellent to hear some nice melodies again. Might be a little "Astral'ish", but since astral started making hardtrance and putting out mixed "best of" comps we might need a new astral. Keep it up, and bring us another album soon. Bom 8/10 Quote
Trance2MoveU Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I really think this has to be looked at again. Very underrated! Because it came out in 2001, I believe it was passed over as old-schoolers looking for that magical past amidst the snoozefest that was minimal. All the tracks on this CD are beautiful melodic goa. I wonder what Olof Lönnroth is doing these days? I know that he had a track on the V/A Blissful Moments that was another great goa track. Anyone have any idea if he is still making music? A new album would really be sweet. Mdk Quote
masen023 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Hey. I heard about this album some years ago and totally forgot about it. Now i bought my copy... and it really kicks ass IMO. And yes i have gotten in contact with Olof recently and he said that: There is many unreleased tracks from him that he think would be fun to somthing with. Maybe put up a site.. that will feature downloadable old tracks. Quote
Agneton Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 I got a whole batch of unreleased tracks from him, they are easily to be found through P2P networks. I believe the guy is not into music anymore though, I remember he was doing something with web graphics etc ... And yeah, the album contains some killer tracks, fo sho! Quote
Manuser Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 really nice indeed, this sound is charming in a way because it sometimes sounds a bit amateur but yeah that's why it's charming. Really really nostalgic track 6 made me smile it sounds so old : ) as said above the sound is vey israeli for most tracks, AP like. Very melodic. Only melodic actually melodies everywhere... There is one track which sounds very Dimension 5 like it is track 7, amazing track. Unfortunately expensive to buy the CD I managed to get some mp3 but waiting to get the CD at a decent price. Too bad the guy stopped making music he had some great ideas. 7.5/10. Quote
Trance2MoveU Posted October 1, 2014 Posted October 1, 2014 Commented on this 7 years ago and it still is an awesome album. I would pay 35 bucks for it. Mdk Quote
