Setsuko
V/A - Set 01 Artist: Various Title: Set 01 Label: Iboga Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 07'52" Audiopile : The Drill 02. 08'15" Trimatic : Funcator 03. 09'17" Lurifax : Polaroid 04. 09'25" Beat Bizarre : Deep Disco Profile 05. 07'41" Reefer Decree : 506 06. 08'45" Zerotonine : Acid Theatre 07. 07'37" Audiopile : Occult Pizza 08. 06'23" Oryx : Once Upon A Time 09. 08'40" Anesthesia : Eco Review: as you can see lots of tracks on this compilation are already released on EP and CD ... only track #3 is unreleased . but, the main importance of this release is that the mastering is very good comparing with the very first Iboga releases. all the tracks are pretty tribal and hypnotising with mind expanding grooves. #1 is pretty slow but very nice and hypnotising #2 has a very nice groove , one of my favourites #3 is a very strange track, very wicked sounds put together for another hypnotising track with a little melody in the end , nice #4 beat bizarre, what else can i say ... this is a psychedelic masterpiece , the groove is just superb and the track has a warm atmosphere #5 somthing is missing in here , but that's maybe because it's released on the first Iboga EP ... still a great track but not realy my cup of tea... the melody is OK but the structures are a bit lame, maybe it works on the dancefloor but it doesn't in my cd player #6 WOW ... amazing track be Zerotonine , very powerfull and wicked... the best track IMO , the sample used is very funny #7 pretty good by Audiopile... very psychedelic and lovely groove , nice sounds ...better then the first track #8 great ... ofcourse , this on is also my favourite on Tabernanthe but this time the sound quality is much better ..! . #9 worst track on this compilation IMO... i dunno but the sounds don't fit together ... i must say i was very suprised by this releases . maybe this one isn't for every progressive lover but i sure can tell you this one is worth buying for the groove psychedelic rating : 8/

DeathPosture
Ah man... I had a review ready of this, but Setusko beat me to it.... Anyway, here's my review: Best Of Iboga Volume One here? Danish label Iboga have selected their best EPs and made them available on CD for the first time + One track from their first CD compil Tabernathe + one previously unreleased track from Lurifax. It should come as no surprise to anyone, that this is minimal trance, but very good minimal trance. #1 Ahh? Insane track from audiophiles Audiopile? Very well selected track-name.;o) ... #2 is Seb & Marcus from Son Kite. Very nice track her - it has the amazing Otherwise-feel that I love so much. (check my review here: http://www.psynews.org/compils/otherw.htm). #3 is an unreleased track from Lurifax? It?s been floating around the Danish dat-mafia for a while, so there?s a good chance you?ve heard this one at a party. Not my fav?e on this CD. #4 is Beat Bizarre, and this is a typical BB-track in the Lewd-style we all know. #5 ?this was the 1st track that Iboga ever released! It has this drive which I really like?Very nice indeed? #6 from the first, to this, the latest Iboga release. I like the first better, but this gets better as the track progresses. I quite like the female voice in this track. Very powerful track. #7 Very? ehh?. Occult bass-line in this track?Good track, but compared to some of the other tracks one this CD one of the weakest here?. #8 ? Right, anyone who owns Iboga?s very first CD Tabernathe knows this track? The only track on this CD with melodies in it?It still sounds fresh? Ahhh? I like this one! #9 ? Never heard this one before, but DAMN this is a noisy track? I?m sure this will KILL on the dancefloors? Aaarhg, what an insane sound? This must be the psy-equivalent to Danish crap euro-dance clown Dj Aligator?s ?Whistle Song?? This track is only 900 times better! All in all, this is a very, very nice minimal compilation. Those who know me, know that I have to be REALLY impressed to enjoy progressive minimal, but this suits my ears, and everyone who digs the unique sound of Iboga should own this! Very nice! 8.5/
Guest kadafi
as it says above, this is a good compilation... though i think most tracks are just good, not much more... Only 1 here i'm néver going to forget: Oryx... véry nice! I also like Trimatic (xcept for that voicesample). and it's hard to resist Beat Bizarre's driving feeling... can't stop moving along the hypnotising kickbass. 7/
seraph
A Stunning Progressive trance compilation...It is very tribal, experimental and groovy...It is very good progress in sounds and mastering...I like all songs but the best one are : THE DRILL ( ! ), POLAROID ( !! ), 506 ( ! ), OCCULT PIZZA, ONCE UPON A TIME ( ! ), ECO...9/
Guest MG
Just started listening to this type of stuff again. This CD has since been in regular rotation for the last couple of days. Polaroid is the best track on this CD, followed by Beat Bizarre, who do their magic better here than on their album, same with Reefer Decree (well, maybe not better, but certainly up to par) follow'd by the Drill by Audiopile is also a great track as is Oryx's track, yet it is in awkward contrast to the vibe of the compilation, but it still needs to be heard! I would've liked a Phoney Orphants track too, maybe a remix of Shrooms and Fishfingers. I rate it 8/
