Guest Ubik
Lacks the perfection of Beyond the Infinite, but better than Bible of Dreams. A couple of amazing tracks : Pistolero, the two Nitrogen and Song for ancestors, and the rest is still good, so overall 8.5/
Guest Stargazer
Juno Reactor is back another masterpiece! Excellent style, it's dark and mystic... and different as always. Fortunately we have some original sounding artists not just that basic thump thump thump and 303. They must be very young people who say "if it's not psy it's not good" uh.. i hate that attitude, just like the people that are into metal... you should be narrow-minded if you are into goa and psy, i think! Back to the review... All trax are good! Only 2 & 7 are not that good. :-) i'll give this baby 9/10 Peace!

Guest [Anonymous]
How can so many people hate this CD? ESPECIALLY previous Juno fans??? I love every track except 2 and 4. I mean how can you hate Pistolero and Nitrogen (both parts)???? I can't help but feeling mad at anyone who hates this beautiful thing! I just hope those people were expressing their first impression, which can change a lot after a few listens.
Guest ralih[at]hongkong[dot]com
This is truly the best cd of the year 2000.. This really shows how far ahead JR are, i've heard anything like this before.
Guest donthave[at]email[dot]com
this album is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too african and ambient, if you want this kind of music travel to africa and check out some tribes over there. their old stuff is alot better than this crap. And it isnt GOa trance as well this is crap...
Guest Ehsanur
Its a crime to doubt Juno's abilities and their open minded approach to psychedelia. Pistolero is a very interesting track which I think people across differant genres will enjoy. Hulelam is also interesting and the Reactor-crew mush have some patience with us here cause this is not what we usually are used to :-) Hulelam has a great drive and rhythm. Interesting way to take use of tribal influence while not using that standard Indian-chant-vocal if u know what I mean:-) Insects starts out nice and second half part has a kinda cinematic theme. Badimo is just scary, and has a great melody line/vocal which is downright frightening-made me shiver. And now for the Master of Universe-u can feel the latino influence here and the beat is not typical goaish. And that vocal is quite similar (or the same) as in Pistolero. Nitrogen part 1 is in my opinion the best track on this album, which is outstanding from the beginning to the end of the track. Especially the last bit is really nice. Nitrogen part 2 is also good and Solaris is a subtle ambient piece. Song for ancestors needs more listening. My conclusion will probably be that this is a hard to get-album (in musical term) and its highly innovative. Not your standard goa, but a highly eclectic electro/tribal/cinema-music. Some parts of it has a taste of a horror-movie soundtrack and whole Shango comes in a pretty gloomy atmosphere. This music would be perfect for listening when driving alone night time all by yourself in a deserted area, on a dark highway. It's almost all good! 8/10 Flowers for y'all. Guest shagbagboy
Why are some people so limited in their choice of music...i think this record is a nice one and its suits some moments in life, and all of you limited people should open your mind...and be more miscallaneous in you choise of music...explore diffrent kinds of music in diffrent kinds of situations... Guest astralmoveo[at]centrum[dot]cz
It´s hard to say what i feel when i listen this album but briefly it isn´t goa it isn´t psytrance but most of tracks has the same psychedelic vibes as right psytrance. This record has very interesting soul and it means - 10/10.
Guest Jaminben
this is a MASTER piece. yes, BADIMO, MASTERS of the universe, nitrogen ,solaris. nothing more to say . SORRY for those who don't like that! Anyway, music good or not ,it's only your point of view... respect to the juno reactor
karcarman
Shango has his own style...It's original, peaceful, all that you want but for me THIS IS NOT TRANCEGOA AT ALL !!!
Guest vajrayogini[at]caramail[dot]com
There is not point in saying that Shango is not "Trancegoa" or whatever . The point is that ShaNGO is very interesting and according to me it is Beautiful Music.
spacemonkey
give it time let it rest in and let it grab you, but if you'r only interested in the same ol'sound, dont buy it 7/
Tatsu
Some of the tracks on this cd are so great they give me goosepumps even listen to them at home being totally sober... especially the first one, pistolero, is very powerfull. heard it at partys several times and it really drove the people to the dancefloor. With the Spanish guitar and the handclapping in it it reminds me a little of flamenco or gipsy music. The second track, Hule Lam, is also very powerfull with a lot of tribal drums in it. Something like an African tribal chant. Haven't heard this one at a party but I'm sure I would dance to it like crazy. The only other song I love on this cd is number 5, Masters of the Univers. It has a hard melody in it and the voice singing is also e little African like. The main beat is regular not tribal, but later some bongos or other drums are added. Also a part with a little piano. The song is the fastest on the cd and also a little darker than Pistolero and Hule Lam. The other songs are not my thing, very slow and dark and you have to wait very long until something happens in the music. Don't know if this shoulb be ambient? But the three tracks I like made it very worth for me to buy this cd.
Guest FinnHawk
Pistolero is a great track! Maybe it's not quite trance, but who cares... I love stuff that's innovative and doesn't always conform to the norm or a specific musical formula. As for the rest of the CD, I don't have it yet, so I can't comment. freak51
I was right, it did grow on me. It takes a long time to understand this excellent release. Some of the stuff at the end is superfluous, but Badimo, Hule Lam, Insects are killers. The ambience at the end is really nice and deep. 8.5/10 because some of it does go on too long, but definitely worth owning.
Guest [Anonymous]
garbage , sounds really primitive and outdated. the attempt to incorporate new sounds/directions is commendable but its done in a very superficial way. The african stuff is irritating its too primitive for the sophistication of electronica. I just saw these guys in concert and it was a big dissappointment, very little danceability and the juno reactor guy looks like a complete fruit
pacman
BaDimo is the shit. Ambient tracks are nice Pistolero is more original than anything... and i think Hule Lam sucks... Masters of the universe is ..... interesting. Best is the Ambient.
Guest bdbutts[at]hotmail[dot]com
I liked these guys before I knew they were "psy-trance"... (or even what psytrance was!) so I guess you could say they introduced me to the genre; admittedly I came on the scene late-- like only ~ 9 mos. ago- heard God is God and a couple of JR stuff, and heard shango was their newest, so bought it. WOW. I really like it. since then I've pretty much bought lotsa psytrance stuff-- hallucinogen, space cats, shakta, sun project, pleiadians, astral projection, etc etc. but this is still one of my favorite albums. certainly, it has tribal stuff, but I don't think it sounds cheesy. I saw them in San diego this summer. loved it. Theres not a song on here I don't like. some of these sound great if you have a kicking subwoofer. I love that deep bass, as in "insects". IMHO, its a really great album
Guest Faroutwohman
This is NOT Trance. The only one that can be called trance is Insects. The rest? well the last ?4? tracks are pretty ambient. Masters of the Universe.
Jon Cocco
In comparison to Juno Reactors other albums, (read my other JR reviews) this is very different and more mature in style then before. It feels as if each track was made for a different country, as their are African, Chinese, Indian, and many other forign, influencial sounds in most tracks. This album is much more interesting than Bible of Dreams in my opinion. I don't know why so many people put down Masters Of The Universe. That song is absolutly awesome, only played loud, only at night. Here's the review...1.)Pistolero is excellent! Sounds really Spanish and/or Mexican. Lots of uplifting melody and energy. It's not my type of style trance, but I love it nonetheless. 2.)Hule Lam is the only track that is a little to much for me. This must sound great to people in Africa or India, with it's tribal drums, and vocals. However, it sounds too mixed with tribal sounds and beats and vocals to really get into. Also, it's 4:00 short!??? 3.)Insects gradually builds up into a really cool and stylish aray of sounds and dark rhythm. Great track. 4.)Badimo is also good, but the evil voice gets alittle annoying after awhile. 5.) Masters of the Universe.......is awesome. It's nowhere near as commercial sounding as "God is God" on Bible Of Dreams. The voice in Masters... is very hypnotic and really cool. That song seems to wash away all the worries when listening to it. Tracks (6+7.)Both Nitrogen tracks are totally different from eachother, as one is soft, the other more hard. There both pretty cool, but nothing that awesome. However, I'm sure that one or both will grow on me. 7.)Solaris is awesome! Very melodic, with increasingly beautiful notes, blending into one very far out, interesting track. 8.)Song For Ancestors is brilliant! Beautiful, very dreamy, uplifting sound and voices, extremely melodic, and deep rhythm. You will be floating from the sky, from another world after hearing this. Lastly, this album is worth owning even if you don't connect with it at first. The time and work put into this really shows. Seriously, there is so much crap out there. This is one of those albums where alot of thinking seemed to go into. I relate thinking to the editing, production, and concepts for each of these tracks, even if it's not your style. Juno Reactor makes yet another very unique and different album than the one before it. It's Juno Reactors style alright, and it is excellent. Guest Ryben
PISTOLERO is a good song but you should understand spanish and listen to the female voice. It´s a bit embarrasing listen to her because she said things like: "Give me your fucking money or i´ll fuck you alive" and things like that. If you don´t understand what she is saying, there´s no problem and you can enjoy the song. That´s not my case...it sounds a bit ridiculous, indeed. Guest binke[at]binke[dot]org
I was at Juno Reactor live and my opinion is that anybody who makes fun of Juno Reactor doesn't have any genuine respect or appreciation of music. I don't think this is the greatest album in the world but to say it sucks is really a waste of space on a review page. To those who make fun of it for not being goa where do you get off?? Its not like they wrote the words "THIS IS GOA TRANCE" on the cover, I really don't think they claim that it is. The reason Juno Reactor is associated with the goa scene is because of the *spirit*. Love, Nathan
