Guest Raash
V/A - Siesta Artist: Various Title: Siesta Label: Phonokol Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Earthling : Chill Or Be Chilled 02. Water Spirits : Jah Feedback 03. Earthling : Helix 04. Space Drifters : Reveree (Vocal Version) 05. Orion And Alien Project : Cryptic Aliens 06. Earthling : Kilimanjaro 07. Earthling And Alien Project : Fantasy Island 08. Etnica : Trip Tonite (Playa Mix) 09. Alien Project And Astrix : Crystall Skulls 10. Logic Bomb : Normalised Review: First of all, this is a chillout compil, so maybe it would be better to put it in the chillout section, I don't know... This CD is compiled by Alien Project, whether this should have an impact on the sound or not, I don't know because I haven't heard that much stuff from this guy... Anyway, the cd starts out with a nice track with a nice growling bass and soft drums... A piano can also be heard in the background... The next track has a sound that reminds me about of Shpongle... Nice The third track is another track from this guy Earthling... Also very Shpongle inspired... Track 4 is has no drums in it, with very powerful layers... Makes me feel very relaxed... In the next track, the drums are back again... The sound of this track can be compared to the sound on the "Hallucionogen in dub" cd... Nice, but maybe a little to many different sounds in it... Track no 6 is boring.... You won't make it through it all... Next track is another nice drum track, in the same style as the other tracks (I noticed the tracks on this comp being very similair to each other)... The next track, no 8, needs no description... It's the nice Playa remix of Etnica's well known track Trip tonight... Nice The next track have already been released on the comp The Mystery Of The Thirteen Crystal Skulls... Nice track, but honestly I'm a little tired of it... The last track on this cd is a nice "floater" from Logic Bomb... Lacks all the annoying and sharp sounds that often can be found in their tracks... Well, a quite nice chillout compil in my opinion... 8/
Trance2MoveU
Gotta bump this. I just finished preparing dinner (Chicken swiss with mushrooms) and while I am waiting for it to bake, I threw this on. Now Ari has taken a step back lately, but I think this was the height of his popularity. As previously mentioned, it is a downtempo/chill compilation. Here he compiles tracks that have deep, booming basses, break beat rhythms as well as a nice afternoon reggae feel. I also find that real instruments mix very well with the electronic stuff. I thoroughly enjoyed this, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes to watch the sunset on a beach with or without artificial supplements.
