Guest Genetix
V/A - Single Cell 2 Artist: Various Title: Single Cell 2 Label: Atomic Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Slinky Wizard : Hit And Run (Fuzzy Disco Mix) 02. Nucleus : Hovercraft 03. Menis : Loading Up The Freeway 04. Lasziv : Basement 05. Morphem : Hypnotone (00 Fleming Mix) 06. Man With No Name : Revenge 07. NTSX : Wicked 08. Updata : Creeper 09. Slinky Wizard : Hit And Run (System Mix) Review: Single SHIT. What is this? Atomic is losing the fans. Wake up guys and release something better than this. Single Cell 1 was masterpiece but this.. Every track here is not good to be released. We have 3 shit remixes on shit tracks. Maybe Menis is good but that is all. MWNN track is just standard. Others are .. blah. I always get nervous when I see this compilation. (t7) this is Wicked? If this is wicked I am a God. (t8) the name of this track should be CRAP. Don't worth even for a cent. I give 2.5/10.

jaimz
Ok, I feel this is justified to a decent review, as it's a progressive trance CD reviewed by psychedelic trance fans, which doesn't work. This CD is a compilation of previously vinyl-only releases from Atomic. In the last year or so the Atomic crew had been heading in a far more progressive direction, as are all the UK labels [listen to stuff from Dragonfly's Kamaflague sub-label, and Transient and Flying Rhino both have progressive sub-labels on the go]. This release reflects that. With exception of the Menis track pretty much this entire collection could go down very well in a progressive UK club. The production is as always perfect, but there is close to nothing in appeal for anyone searching for something psychedelic. So, if you're after psychedelic, or, heaven forbid, goa trance, avoid this release. But if you like crisp, clean funky progressive trance [note: not progressive psychedelic, true progressive], then pick this up and give it a listen. madpup
This review is for more broad minded music fans, rather than for the 'if its not psychedelic, it must be shit' people, who seem to be rather prevalent here. This compil e has mostly progressive trance, with some psy influences , which are rather slight. To go track by track: Track 1 is excellent, really crispy prodution and quite funky, with some lovely synths as well. Track 2 has some psychedelic touches, i think, but nothing special, really bland samples throughout, doesnt reallt go anywhere. Track 3 quite a dark progressive psychedelic track, some real haunting piano samples, i really like it. Track 4 i didnt like at all, sounded like a really flat techno song, which lacks power and direction. Track 5 is club trance, remixed by a very famous club dj John '00' Fleming. I love this track, its extremely uplifting and very classy without the usual club trance cheese. Track 6 is typical MWNN sound, love it or hate it. Track 7 is very housy, but rather uninspiring, pretty boring and lacks the get up and dance factor. Track 8 is by Mark Allen and Tim Healy from Quirk, and its also very housy, however this one is superb, very funky and danceable, everyone who i know that heard it loves it. That breakdown will get any dancefloor going i think. Finally track 9, this mix is is not as good as track 1, it teases you but fails to really get going, however it still is a pretty good song. In conclusion, this is a pretty good release i think, there is nothing wrong with labels varying their styles.
Guest [Anonymous]
This review stuff is getting boring... pro psy and pro progressive people fighting over style's.... To bad this is what the scene has come to... I prefer full-on psytrance, but I also make way for the new progressive style it derserves respect and adds depth to the differsety of goa. But also repect the psychedelic roots of goa since we all come from that same tree. SO DONT give lame comments no-one is waiting for, add to the release or just SHUT UP!!! Guest Genetix
Ok people. With Single Cell 1 what do you expect to be Single Cell 2 Great. But it rather progresive trance compil. It is not even a bit psychedelic. That why I rate this CD with 2.5. It seems that Atomic is moving to another direction. And about the reviews. Everybody have the right to think what he whant. So if you whant to give your opinion about some CD just post it here. Don't rate reviews - rate the CD. PLUR
