Guest Stormbringer
Authentik - Solid / The 5th Colour Artist: Authentik Title: Solid / The 5th Colour Label: D-Drum Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Solid 02. The 5th Colour Review: I don´t think anybody would have called this EP by Authentik a Trance-EP some years ago, but now the border between Techno and Trance is more diffuse so some people like myself think it´s the hardest form of trance while some other people refuse to call it anything but Techno. It can be pretty confusing sometimes to judge what is what :-D One thing that most people probably agree with me about is that this EP has nothing to do in a regular home-stereo, atleast if the volume is going to be low. This EP is created solely for gigantic sound-systems which are the only ones that can do this kind of music justice. What does old people think about this kind of extreme music? Well... in Sweden they call it "Dunka-Dunka" and I must for once agree with them. This is extremely harsh, brutal rhythmic "Dunka-Dunka" that may rock even small buildings in their foundations if played at the proper level. If you own your own house in the countryside or works as a dj you might be able to play it, but if you aren´t you may end up like me owning a record that just collects dust. There´s just no point to play this EP at low volume or in headphones (unless you want to be deaf?). Just imagine standing infront of some humungus speakers when this track is played. Your intestants would most certainly rattle like a shoal of eels :-D Both tracks are from the Authentik-album, also released on D-Drum by the way... and YES! I got that too, but I´ve only been able to play it as it should be played once. My friend has an impressive car-stereo and when we played it in his car it felt like having crackers inside the head so I´m not that sure I want that brutal treatment again ;-)

ukiro
I think these and many other authentik tracks lack atmosphere. They use the same sounds as in many of their releases under the name Three Point Turn too. Still, this is pretty good stuff if you like it hard. Delta did a remix of "Solid" that adds some atmosphere, so I would recommend trying to get ahold of that one instead.

Guest Mescalinium
If you're going to own one Authentik track, "Solid" would be my first suggestion. It has all the typical authentik/3.turn sounds, but certainly the best arrangements of any of the album songs. I find "The 5th Color" simply too boring. Very little progression, and very boring effects. I'll give Solid a 7/10 though.
