Guest Syre
Reefer Decree - Sound Frames Artist: Reefer Decree Title: Sound Frames Label: Iboga Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Animal Planet 02. Percaution 03. It Did 04. Mortal Wombat II 05. Spinal Tics 06. Pulse Train 07. Soundframed 08. Time Drop Review: Reefer Decree is nothing but amazing and with this album they prove that they are truly the best, in the minimal psychedelic trance genre. "Sound Frames" is a absolute killer on the dance floor as well as in your home. It's top notch production and the sounds are incredible. It starts with off with a "Animal Planet" which has the one of the nicest basslines I have ever heard, it breaks and has lots of sweet psychedelic sounds which makes it perfect. It really moves your body. Next up is "Percaution" which is a very well known track and is previously released, it has nice small drums, percussion's and a very cool groove. Really kick ass. There are no bad tracks on this albums, as there has never been a bad Reefer Decree track. The style is dark full on minimalistic psy trance, but again minimalistic haters shouldn't turn their back, this is for everyone. My favorite ones are "Animal Planet", "Pulse Train" and "Time Drop". Reefer Decree will be the next big name with this album. It's been a while since I have heard something as great as this 10/10 without question. Guest M
Kick-ass album, nice bass-lines, great sounds --moves well and sounds soooo crisp. Good work Jeppe, keep bringing out the goods! i think we need to filter some of the reviews---there r sum real dick-heads around. Nothing to do with musical opinion (people can like what they choose) - more to do with arrogance and ignorance!
Guest brian[at]goashoppen[dot]com
Reefer produces some of the most intelligent and beautiful music around. I saw them live last weekend and they blow me away with those groovy basslines and live percussion. "Music for 1% of the Trance lovers"...yeah right. This will be one of the best selling albums in 2001...trust me.

Guest Jaap
If you got more than 2 neurons don't buy that. Music for people who don't listen music but sounds
Guest Seb Mullaert
Nice record, nice tracks !!!!!! I can't understand how anybody can call this techno (or many other records that are reviewed on this page)... if you call this techno you have NEVER listen to techno. Go to a record shop and ask for some techno records. Very much trance today is very inspired by techno but that isn't the same thing as sounding like techno. This album have some techno sounds but if you compare to many other trance acts today it's very little. Take care/ Seb
Guest Noma d
heard a few tracks of this album last night and what i heard was insane. Wicked funky basslines with nice percussive groove and little floaty melodies which just top it all off..as my friend said "Makes everything else sound like super mario bros"
Tlacactoc
Ok... I have this cd... And its not the best of the year, but it worth to buy it... for those who undesrtand and like the hypnotic minimalistic music, plastic sounds, morning trance like, If u are at home listening to this cd just imagine how would it sounds at 4 am at the plenty of the lsd experience... then you would understand the value of this production... good work reefer decree team!!!! A honest, objetive, music listener.
freak51
Not bad, but I found it missing a certain something - friend put it well when he commented that 'the narrative moves too slowly'. Ehh. 5/10. Reefer Decree must be pissed off though; the record label spelled it 'Reefer Deecre' on the spine.
Guest a_ozi
Well, I now have the cd... and can say it is pretty darn good. It is somewhat more groovy and percussion focussed than their previous songs (xcept percaution which is off a Flow compilation and on this album anyhow). It mostly cruises along at around 137 bpm with my highlights being Spinal Tics, PulseTrain and It Did. I noticed that the eerie melody in Animal Planet is identical to Mushroom Symphony by Sandman (though different sound), and to add to Freak51's observation... on the cd you may notice that track 2 is the first track and 9 is the last, even though there are only 8 songs on the plastic??? 8/
Guest Mecalinium
As Iboga is one of my top labels right now, this was definately a priority. After getting the album, I have to say it definately has mixed results. Some of the songs really shine (I really dig pulse train, it did and percaution) but some sections just put me to sleep. Vinyl buyers, I would advise you to pick up the It Did/Animal Planet e.p. 6.5/
GEoMaNTiK
excellent quality on this cd, heard this along side zirkin and bandit's releases and it fucking shines with them - 8/

Guest HAch
yahwn** I saw them live yesterday... endless repetitive music. I don´t know this is bad or good or is minimal or not. Psychedelic is to drop your mind crazy... but this... 5/10.
Guest ruthlessvandal[at]graffiti[dot]n
In capitalist society (the society of the spectacle), we are taught to QUANTIFY everything because that turns everything into a commodity (that which can be bought and sold) and reduces complex realities with externalized value systems so they can be compared with other commodities, like "oh, that cd got 4/10 and this cd got 6/10, the second one must be better." Don't we all know that reducing life to numbers, merely reduces life, to numbers? anyway, as to reefer decree. dope trax. fuckin rockin. i like the primitivist, anti-civilization/technology sample at the beginning of the cd. those who haven't realized yet that present social realities are based on hipocracy will say that it is hipocritical for them to be using complex techonology to promote their phuture-pritivist message. love and war, oshan
Guest mossadexz[at]hotmail[dot]com
This music-genre is what we in Denmark (where Reefer Decree is from) "goffen". Because it has a particular sound to it. When the kick and middlebass play together, it creates kind of a sucking feeling. A kick and a reverse kick or a similar bassline is often used, to get that feling. Then a couple of cleverly placed soundeffects and well put-together basslines play along, and make it a spectacular experience. I'm trying to make this kind of music myself, but I'm better at the MFG and Astral style. It's much harder to keep a beat going without it getting boring, if you have a melody to back it up with. Reefer Decree are the Scandinavian gods, along with Atmos, Miranda and Koxbox
Guest Acidhive
A great album by Reefer Decree here. I'd give this stuff 8,5/10, simply because it just sounds so... finished. I mean, these guys actually took time to write this album and came up with some tracks that really get in your head, as good psytrance should. Spinal Tics, Mortal Wombat II and Animal Planet all rule, as do the other tracks. And this is minimal... Who cares if it is? Minimal is just a direction of psytrance. You now have 2 sorts basically and that's melodic (abolum and consorts) and minimal (reefer decree, Magnetrixx etc.) I still son't get all those assholes bickering over this. Some people should just keep their mouths shut permanently. I mean, we're talking music here and also OPINIONS. What I'm trying to say is: don't slack others who have the opinion minimal is also good psytrance. This just is good stuff in my opinion. Music needs direction, because otherwise things get samey. Try listening all day to Absolum rip offs for instance... Now you get my point? I love diversity in music and the way things are going now It couldn't get any better, we have melodic stuff and minimal stuff. So, one day my mood is melodic and hard psy, and one other day I want to listen minimal, and you know what? It's all possible!! Thank Ganesha for that at least huh??? Guest A
Mecalinium is right..its an ok album but some tracks are not iboga quality... Znnaaarkk
Guest pihkal[at]gmx[dot]de
MINIMAL RULEZ !!! The only way to keep trance interesting is to invent. I can´t listen to the old skool sound anymore. I love these techno vibes. Open your mind! 23 of
Guest omena
This is psychedelic forest music. And after 3 months of owning it i give 10/10. Iboga rules!!!
Guest MG
I heard this in a shop yesterday, & the only reason I didn't buy this is because I bought Audion (Auricular) instead, which I found explored more varied territory. I can't remember what track it was that just made me go fuck yeah w/ Sound Frames, but it was the one with the descending offbeat bassline. I will buy this one day soon. In response to all the previous Anti-Minimalists. STOP YOUR FUCKING WHINING. I used to absolutely hate all that middle eastern midranged, sqwuaky (Did I spell that right?) Bullshit. If I never listened to A Progress in Trance who knows what sick depraved music I would be listening to now! That said, I still get off on dementertainment, the quirky Acid compilation that it is (& I don't mean 303's & DAVE the Drummer either, that CD is made for sunshine & sunflowers, It turns you into a quirky funloving idiot in the nicest of ways). Anyway, my point is this, There needs to be a balance in what is termed psychedelic, & what type of groove is put behind psychedelic - The angle of the dangle & the audio you mangle (where that came from, Fuck knows!) Guest MG
I can't afford cocaine! I took the plunge & bought the album & listened to it a few times over the weekend. It rocks without real aggression, there are some nice ambient moments. I like this more than Auricular in fact.

Setsuko
This cd is amazing? just amazing... minimal at its best, AT ITS BEST... it has a warm, happy, funky feeling... I feel so happy when I listen to this one... minimal Psytrance in its new way... I love it...Play it loud, very loud ... This is psychedelic hypnotizing minimal techtrance (for all the minimal haters... You don't know what you're missing...)... my favourite tracks are 1 and 4 , the other tracks are very good too, but not as perfect as 1 and 4 Wow, for such a long time , i am amazed by a release that touches me. Reefer Decree is partymusic of the new century Psychedelic rating of 8/10... Buy this
