Guest Smg
Analog Pussy - Space Walk Artist: Analog Pussy Title: Space Walk Label: Hadshot Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 08'04" Space Walk 02. 08'21" Death Roll Review: I personally have always liked analog pussys style. This 12" is hard to review, tracks are so... faceless, maybe. Space walk (137) starts with distorted rumbles and brings in the bass. After a while kick starts and eventually this track progresses with some hihats, percussions and effies. Nevertheless, I don't quite catch the point. It doesn't work for me that well, and regarding of few nice structural thingies and nice effects this is boring. I give 6/10. And on the "wrong side of the tracks" (138) we have quite an improvement in my opinion, I'm sure many people will find this track very blatant and boring, but I love it. It's SO HUGE! It starts directly with kick, and filtered bass. Which is altered constantly throughout the track. This is extremely simple in rhythm, but GREAT!!! It has one of the greatest grooves ever. It uses hihats in discretion, and few old 909 snare samples at first. There's break at 2'15'' and then full power of kickdrum is unleashed and WOW! Few nice snarling effects and basic percussion rhythms only, but this is great. After 6 mins there starts this very simple backround noise/atmos and after a while the hell breaks loose. Bassline filters are opened in full. All effects, percussions and rhythms are used at the same time and they REALLY DO MESH!!! This blows your mind at very high volume. 10/10 for Death roll. Although space walk is not that great, this vinyl is really worth the money because of the "Death roll" track. Get it! Btw, analog pussy has reworked this excellent track to the "underground" album they released fall/2001, it's titled as "Stomping crow" there, but is pretty much the same, although I think the one on this vinyl better, a bit fatter and more grotesque . Bom!
