Guest Rx7style
Spirallianz - Stereopark Artist: Spirallianz Title: Stereopark Label: Spirit Zone Date: 2003 Track listing: 01. Hide And Seek 02. Bitnapped 03. Patchfinder 04. The Fuser 05. Battlejuice 06. Stereopark 07. A23 08. Neurosport 09. Soulprint 10. In.Out/Thru Review: I've not really listened to much Spirallianz, so I can't offer much insight into the group's background. However, I can tell you if this album is a pleasurable listen or not; and I'm afraid with this album it's not. Very noisy and chaotic sounds adorn contiguous beat successions for nearly the entire duration of the album. Right off that's a major let down for me when listening to any album. There are some breaks in the tracks, but the beat patters NEVER change or vary at all in any other respect. The bass lines are a different story, and you'd expect in a musical sense that they would have to fluctuate in order to harmonize any melodic patterns layered within other areas of the sound range. So with this said, Tracks 1-3 are quite a let down and don't appease me whatsoever because of just that. Finally this repeated sound in the first three tracks is amended in “The Fuser”. This track develops more logically with soft synth lines deeply hidden within a quite vigorous, assertive, AND numerous percussive layers. “Battlejuice” follows which I have on an EP, and it's definitely the most energetic track on the album: quite the body mover. “Stereopark” is also appealing, but is definitely house influenced and flavoured, but with a darker feel and aura to it which isn't all that bad. Then in comes the funky disco house. I don't know what's up with “A23” but it certainly doesn't fit with anything else on this album and further detracts from the likeability of this album. “Neurosport” has some nicely controlled reverb on and stereo ping-pong to give almost an ethereal sound, but I still feel that the beats and bass lines aren't befitting of many of the tracks on this album. United with Battlejuice, “Soulprint” is the next best thing on this album. This track is mastered well, and almost seems to have a plot and musical progression that leaves other much to be desired with some other tracks on the album. The downtempo and varied beats of the last track finally put my mind at rest, and with tastefully pitch-bent bass lines coupled with the minor chords and intervals in the melody make the last tracks seem all the more better. A strong finish with what at first seemed like quite the debacle for this album. The track's abrupt ending however leads me to give 6.5/10 for an average release. Goblim
This is a long awaited album from Spirallianz. Since their last album 'Blast Food', released 2½ years ago Spirallianz have only released three EPs - the Silver Edition series. Not to forget though, that we have seen a lot from their other projects - The Delta and Midi Miliz - Midi Miliz last album released only one month ago. With Stereopark Spirallianz continue their special style, often referred to as tech-trance. #1. Hide and Seek begins the journey restrained. You can just slightly hear an aggressive sound in the background. After three minutes it gets the upper hand, which makes me think “evil” for some reason. It's a dark track, but in a groovy way. #2. Bitnapped is next with a pretty strange bassline. You hear some 'pling-plong' sounds that sound really cool but they are soon gone. Soon there's a robotic voice that continues speaking during most of the track, it sounds really silly and irritating to me. #3. Patchfinder is an old track but still a killer. This seems to be a bit updated version, it sounds more massive to me. A really aggressive track, hard slamming drums backed up with screaming horror voices that creates a melody. To quote Psyshop, Patchfinder is a "ground shaking tech trance monster"! #4. The Fuser reminds me of the Midi Miliz track Mrs. Vargas for some reason; it's kind of the same style. With distorted drums, and a dark string melody in the background this is a typical Spirallianz track. #5. Battlejuice is the second already released track on the album. It has a very long intro that sounds more like The Delta style - dark and scary. I love this intro and it turns out so well, that I'm almost disappointed when it's over at 02:40. Massive drums enter here that continue to the end when they luckily are merged with the intro and fulfil this killer track. #6. Stereopark is a groovy track; it has a subtle melody through it. It's pretty much the same style as Hide and Seek and it turns out well. #7. A23 is the strangest track on the album. I find it very soft and 'thin'. It has some progressive feeling over it. Unfortunately I don't find it good at all. They could have changed this track to 'Spotrunnerz' which is a killer track previously released on the same EP as Battlejuice was. #8. Neurosport starts by playing around with some drummy sounds until half the track when they are accompanied by an organ sounding melody, but it's soon gone. At the end it's back again and it seems to finally give the track a meaning. But now the track is over. #9. Soulprint is next with that dark and gloomy stuff I want to hear from the spiral alliance. The dark strings and a pretty melancholic melody make this a pure night track. #10. In.Out/Through ends the album with a downbeat track. It reminds me of The Deltas track 'Basic Beat'. Well after listening to this album a couple of times, it leaves me a bit unsatisfied. Where is the “One Way LTD” on Stereopark? Anyway altogether the tracks here are pretty much the same, except the last and A23 which also is very different. It disappoints me that the best tracks on the album are the ones already released, 3 and 5. Track 1, 4, 5 and 9 are pretty good too though. So far I've always liked Spirallianz tracks better than the Midi Miliz ones and this album seems to continue that trend. I give Stereopark 7,5/10. Guest Mijis
Never heard this band before but i liked it a lot , a sound is well defined in this album : psychedellic tech house , i hope to hear more albums with this style in the future. My favourites tracks 2 and 4 . I give it 8/10.
freak51
I hate to disagree with RX7Style, who has been making excellent recommendations for a long time now, but this sound really appeals to me. The sounds are crisp and precisely crafted. The syncopation is exacting. There is enough freakout material to move any floor and make this purchase worthwhile. 9/10 from me - will write again in a few weeks once it's had time to soak. Guest Rx7style
It's always a shame when I don't concur with other fellow reviewers, but I just wanted people to be aware that this album is psychedelic, but in a very tech-trance kind of way. It's not what I would consider the crème de la crème by any means, as I think there are much better recent releases out there. It's a very aggressive and penetrating sound so it mightn't appeal to everyone. I strongly recommend listening to any album in the store first, or via electronic copy, then making your own decision whether to buy or not. There's something out there for everyone…
Guest MG
Hide and Seek was really good, Dark, interesting timbre 3 minutes in, really good. The rest? not as good. So So.
freak51
What is a continuous sound? What is a repeated discrete sound? What frame rate does it take for the mind to interpret a repeated discrete sound as a continuous sound? If it starts "clearly" continuous and slows down, is it the same threshhold as if it starts "clearly" discrete and speeds up? Much of the psychedelia on this release comes out of variations on this theme. The result may not be to the taste of those listening for twist/morph activity, and much of the overlays are melody-free dirge-like drones with percussion. So, yeah, I can get into this, but do try before you buy. 8/10.
Guest MG
Hide and Seek is the best track on this album, the rest didn't grab me nearly as much. I like the 1st album more, but then, I like Midi Miliz more as well. That one will be listened to soon, and the reviews thus far make anticipation more exciting. Guest Acidhive
Agreed with Freak51. Try before you buy. I have always (and probably always will) dig the Spirallianz sound. This release is filled with their trademark massive sounding techtrance. Sometimes it's like listening to a movie soundtrack with beat and hihats.. hahaha Anyway, I think it rules, and beats their first album in sheer playability of the tracks, since most tracks on this aren't as hard to get into. 9/10 for this excellent stuff and I do hope Wayan and Arne keep it up, they've been doing excellent work so far on both Spirallianz and Midi Miliz (whose new albums also definately rocks)
Guest MG
It is with great elation that I eat my words This album is fantastic, they've done a relative saikopod in that their sound on this album is varied from their other big project. This is a relatively melodic album in places, it really seems like an album rather than strictly a collection of DJ-Fodder. There are some tracks that don't belong (A23) but who cares? The Last track is okay, but it is hard to listen to chill in the wake of Shpongle. It deserves 8.5 outta 10.
seraph
Pretty good minimal trance...Much better than last Delta or X - Dream albums for sure...It has better atmosphere and more progression in songs. It is slightly weaker than their previous but it is still good... Best on album : HIDE AND SEEK, BATTLEJUICE, STEREOPARK, NEUROSPORT, SOULPRINT...7/

bazooko
where can i order it from, cant find it on psyshop or chaosunlimited. 241989[/snapback] "spirallianz - stereopark" but i think its not available at psyshop. its a great album but its not new, its from 2003. and wayan raabe and arne schaffhausen arent "newcomers". beeing part of groups as "the delta" or "midimiliz" they released already quite a lot before this album. And if you found Stereopark to be dark and harsh, you will probably wet your pants when listening to their previous album "Blast Food". IMO it´s even colder, darker and harder. Dez
But spir/midi is nothing compared to the delta - send in... send back... If you look up 'gut wrenching' in the dictionary i think that it will refer you to that cd
Nefarious
Have too agree with Lumpi (Psychovader is a nice comp ). Blast Food is very blasting! You should also check Midi Miliz - Antistat. The Delta - Schizoeffective still takes the cake though.......

Basilisk
Personally I think Stereopark is a great piece of work... richly atmospheric, featuring several great tunes. Battlejuice is the anthemic stand-out, but I think I like the Fuser best... Soulprint is a great drifting tune, and the first two - Hide and Seek / Bitnapped - are also bloody excellent. The little creeping noises in the title track is dope as well. In essence, it's an album with many strengths!
seraph
I realised I haven't posted anything here. I find this album as one of the better minimal trance albums. I like few of minimal albums but I don't like that boring minimal like 3.Turn, Lando, Krumelur and rest of the shitty stuff. I like MOS - DRIVE, to me the best minimal album after DELTA - SCIZZOEFFECTIVE, followed by SPIRALLIANZ - STEREOPARK. I like also MIDI MILIZ- ANTISTAT, pretty intelligent piece. Stereopark is very precise album, I like the mechanic ( which I generally dislike ) but at the same time it is smooth and with very psychedelic structure of songs. BATTLEJUICE, HIDE AND SEEK, FUSER, PATCHFINDER are great tracks...But in general, minimal is not my favourite genre but it still can drive you on the certain levels... Manuser
I remember being really impressed by track 3 PATCHFINDER, dark powerful, scary track. BATTLEJUICE is very good, but it's a pity it is so short, it sounds unfinished to my ears. On the whole this might be PERFECT music for party!
