Pylon And Pacesetter - Storm / All Purpose

Artist: Pylon And Pacesetter

Title: Storm / All Purpose

Label: Manta

Date: 2002

Track listing:

01. 09'40" Pacesetter : All Purpose

02. 09'26" Pylon : Storm

Review:

This is the first release from the Auckland, NZ-based Manta record

label. Pylon is the Strom Brothers (Antix) and Pacesetter is their

collaboration with Tomasz Balicki (Atmos). The a-side is a slow,

steady, bass rumbler, which employs those scratchy, technoid

percussions we've all become so familiar with, and a deeply hypnotic

monotone bassline. It's an interesting mix of styles, and I'm sure

it'll work on the dancefloor, but at the same time it's a bit too

repetitious for its own good. The b-side picks up where the first

track lets off. Pylon offers us a heavier, dryer, and more percussive

take on the tech-trance sound, which definately works. There's a break

at the 5 minute point, which segues into some sample-driven

atmospherics. The rest of the song is one dark heavy trip, with some

vocals reminiscent of the Son Kite crew. Now that I think about it,

this song reminds me a lot of "Driveshaft". And that's a good thing!

Overall, a very solid debut release; I will look forward to many more

from this new label. 8/10.

Damn This 2 Track ROCKS!!!

And what if the movie MATRIX wasn't made??

how many songs does not use a vocal from it?!

a psychedelic movie..

The First Track is AWSOME!! so nice Tempo all Through..

the second one is DEEP, even better, u get in in it from the start just drag u in to the

world of "STORM" for about 9 and a half minute, its a little like organic

noise in mix with sonnenvakuum i think.. space noises?

killer EP for sure!!!!!!!!!!! 8,9/10
