mars
I had those tracks a long time ago. This is at the edge of Psytrance. This is Trance, actually, but it gives in mind some sparks of psychedelism, so it deserves to be here. Musically speaking, those tracks have a simple rhythmic, yet powerful. Over that, you can hear the typical Sundown melody that was remixed in 96 by Ionizer. It unfolds on and on and makes you happy. The "rock my boat" feeling Stormbringer wrote is mine too. If you still have that EP, just put it under the diamond, relax and move your head while the boat rocks !
Gorgonator
WOW, This brings back some fond memories from yester year. I agree with stormbringer its diffiult to classify this one but its very NEW BEAT belgian sounding IMO. Also in a similar vein to early MUSIC RESEARCH releases from 88-93 when they called it NEW ZONE. With this kind of stuff appearing on this site I think a rumage thru my old vinyl is in order ! Guest Stormbringer
The Overlords - Sundown Artist: The Overlords Title: Sundown Label: ZYX Date: 1991 Track listing: 01. Sundown (Sunshine And The 909 - Babymix) 02. Sundown (Sunfactor 909 - Comamix) Review: We´ll never find the final original source to our music. There will allways be an older record if we look hard enough for it, but one of the oldest that I can think of is the EP "Sundown" by the Overlords from Denmark made in 1991. Is it Goa? Is it Psytrance? Is it Body? Is it Trance? I don´t know, it´s a mix of those genres. We may never be able to decide what´s the origin of the Psy-Trance-genre but this is one of the main sources that´s for sure! There´s a vispering voice and a pumping beat, howling owls and a powerful melody that "rock my boat" as I´m writing this right now. This kind of music from the early nineties has so many different original sounds that if I would put it on a New Beat-tape it would work just fine, and as a Pre-Goa-Track it´s just amazing too. Is "Sundown" Goa, Trance, New Beat or Body? I´ll leave that up to you to decide, I sure can´t!!! I still consider the "Suck/Smoke my dang-a-long" EP made by Erection to be the very first Psy-Trance-record.
Guest Inu
Maybe the beginning of trance... half techno, half industrial with lush psychedelic production. Sunfactor 909 is more "song" like, with a main vocal, while Sunshine is more instrumental. Better than the remix! Look out for Sunfactor 909 on Phonokol's "Eternal Trance" compilation... 9/

Guest [Anonymous]
That's it Stormbringer... But the CDM I own hat more two remixes than that... "Radioversion", "Alpha Beat" and "Mental Version". Another point is that the "Ionizer Remix" (that version that made this song an epic) is from '92, originally released in the CDM "Organic +" from Antler/Subway. Peace. ACiD_Technoid
Great release.. For me, this is FiRST True Goa Trance record I think that Goa become EBM of 90s, and this release is prof of that.
