Guest Mascok
V/A - Sunrise Artist: Various Title: Sunrise Label: Medium Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. Visual Paradox : Timeless 02. Neum : Tequila Sunrise 03. Stefan Gubatz : Der Achte Tag 04. M-Sphere : Roots 05. Treibstoff : Guido Bleifuss 06. Mekano And Autopsy : Smalandsrok 07. Human Blue : Flight 237 08. Matenda : Random Walk Review: Medium is just getting better and better in my eyes, they are for sure one of my top favourite labels, becouse of all their superb morning psy-trance releases, both comps, albums and 12"s. Sunrise is NO exeption! When I first listend to it on Psyshop I was taken away immediately, I had to get this. A little of the record ... I actually bought it in Germany, at VooV Experience... couse I knew it would be much cheaper there ;-) anyway... there are not a single bad track. All tracks are the bit more lighter and sunnier morning style, groovy atmosphere all along the journey, and thats what I love! Excellent music to play in both the sunset or SUNRISE DJ sets!! Ofcourse also very enjoyble home listening. The compilation is assemblied by DJ Bim (whom also played an kickass set @ VooV;-). The cover artwork is also fantastic, very beautiful and matching. The only bad thing(!) about this comp is that it's mixed togeather... :/ I don't like that... So the final verdict is 10/10 (wit! h a small -). Absolute must have for all morning trance collectors out there on the globe. Stay Psyed!
Guest Quark-
I doesn't think it's afar as good as the Steroid compi. or the Acupuncture compi. but it has some good tracks.
freak51
Very serviceable comp with some genuinely classy progressive morning sounds. Never over-the-top, always in control. This is a feel-good winner, 8/10 from me.
Guest DJ Supernova
i love this comp. i think it's one of the best medium comps for sure. like the reviews above, it's done with much class and very good taste. favorites, visual paradox, m-sphere, treibstoff. esp. m-sphere. these tracks will work well both morning and early evening sets. it will not disappoint. 8/
Guest Kadafi
This is excellent stuff!! Pounding beats and dreamy soundscapes... Best are: Neum, Stefan Gubatz and Human Blue... with special attention to NEUM : an upcoming talent imo!! check out End of an Era (ACDC)! Only M-Sphere and Matenda are a little pointless on this comp... still, very good release!! buy it 8,5/
Guest Acidhive
Really, Medium rules! Sunrise AND Acupuncture are top compils and Medium always take the price for good quality progressive releases! So, buy it if you have the chance.. Quality as always... The flow on this comp is also very nice!! Reccommended here... 9/
Guest Dr G
A very nice compilation indeed, and seems to have some staying power too. This is primarily progressive morning sounds, as the title suggests, and there is not much here that will freak you out or set your imagination on fire, but it is calming and uplifting in a cool kind of way. What a long way we've come from Goa '96. All of these tracks will go down very well in morning sets, but they sound really good at home too, particularly as the mastering and pressing are excellent. For me the M-sphere, Treibstoff and Mekano tracks are stand-outs, though the M-sphere is more mellow and uplifting with some lovely guitar, while the Treibstoff and Mekano tracks are more in the Scando style and slightly menacing. I really like Matenda, but the track here is not as good as most of the stuff off his excellent and hypnotic "Energy Loader" lp. My only complaint (I don't agree with the reviewer above) is that the cover is pretty cheesy. I can't wait to hear the next Medium compilation "Electric", which also promises great things. Basilisk
I tend to agree with the sentiment expressed in this thread. My full review: http://www.ektoplazm.com/reviews/sunrise/
