Guest Antic
Process - Superior Technology Artist: Process Title: Superior Technology Label: Process Productions Date: 2002 Track listing: 01. 07'24" Integration 02. 08'02" Brainmelt 03. 07'14" Nano-tek 04. 05'23" Caner 05. 07'23" POG 06. 07'56" The Crocodile 07. 07'46" Disco Mantis 08. 07'31" 10000 Thrill Seekers Review: Process new CD was one of my biggest expectations for this year. His debut album from 2000 (One Drop or Two?) was a proof that truly psychedelic music is still alive and kicking, even though it didn't get due recognition. So, how's the new album then? In one word – GREAT TOO!!! The new one continues typical, rare nowadays British sound, characterized with lots of broken drum-loops, acidy synth sounds everywhere, organic soundscapes and melodies, constantly changing and kind of thin, yet very powerful twisted and wobbly bass-lines. It's weird, wacky, strange and unbelievably psychedelic! Process just seems to be unstoppable in his quest in search for new sounds, samples and melodies. The main part of the music is manipulation with almost everything that can be changed. He's got so many ideas, that one track could easily stand as a basis for whole album of some of the minimal artists. All tracks have some kind of dark feeling to them, but it's not the evil / hell / satan darkness, but rather sci-fi movie / aliens darkness (maybe that's where the title – Superior Technology – is coming from?). Album starts with two great outdoor party tracks – Integration and Brainmelt. They're clear and dry, yet still very powerful with strangely melodic elements. Sean Williams perfected his manipulations with bass line here – it's always changing, morphing in unpredictable directions, and Brainmelt has this great melody at the end (that makes me even more eager to hear new tracks from Benji Vaughan as he co-wrote it with Process). Next two tracks are more experimental – while Nano-tek is still reasonably fast and twisting, Caner explores more psychotic side of music. They're both very claustrophobic, sci-fi horror sounding tracks. Somebody said it's like a soundtrack to the bad trip and that is probably the best description. Second half of the CD is more traditional, but still contains the elements that make Process' music so special. P.O.G is very noisy, chaotic with crazy acid melody in second part. The Crocodile is slower, but has very good acid samples and truly reptile, biting atmosphere. Disco Mantis is funky and groovy (here's surprise :-) and has interesting bass-line in second part. The last track luckily isn't ambient – it's as full-on as others, and even more minimal and driving than previous tunes. It has great voice sample and twisted, sort of Hallucinogen-like melody at the end. I give the CD 9/10 because it's the best record I heard so far this year. I know it's not for everybody – for minimal/progressive lovers it will be to noisy and without much atmos-like progressive flow. To melodic people it doesn't have enough melody and even when it is melodic, it's not the kind of melody they'll accept and like. So, better listen before buying…
Guest theorem
All's I got to say is, this is not "driving in a car" music. I love Process, but wasn't too impressed with this one, however I have only listened in the car, I have yet to put it on during an all-night photoshop binge, which is where all music reaches it's true form with me... I guess I was just looking for another "psychobabel"

Guest Tomvcarter
amazing sound manipulation, but somehow this album does not flow, the basslines are very weak, but the synth layers are awsome. It is much darker than i expected, almost too dark in places, i found it scared me a little on earphones. It is a very interesting listen , but i cant see it working on the dance floor. 5/
Guest Goagabba
~TietäjÄ~, It's Sean on his own. Released on his own label, Process Productions, this is some of the most crazy, wacky yet very intelligent music I've ever heard. If you dig this CD, it don't matter where you play it, in the car, during an all night photoshop session, or at a party. It's really good. You can still hear the 'one drop or two' influences, but a lot has progressed of course, and things only get better. My fav's are 1, 4, 5, 6, 7 I have to give it 10/10. PLUR Excellent review Antic! Guest digi shamanix
Beautifully twisted and suprisingly, very new and fresh. I reccomend to people who like their trance twisted like the old school days. But keep in mind, this doesn`t sound old. waater
excellent composition, sure its no the "world according to process" sound as before, but extremely psychedelic, intuitive and groovey....this IS outdoor music, nothing can compensate for the sounds as it comes thru when hearing it fill environments of the outside world....Sean is a good person with good intent as well, while he was in town awhile back, he came to play at my weekly (an ambient/downtempo/experimental/idm gig)..and he really knows what he is doing, very good heart and has awesome persona.. .. I highly reccommend people to PURCHASE this album, i dont believe you can get all the true sound quality..i dont believe you could hear and feel everything that he has created thru a compressed format. ie: name of album.. :EXCELLENT: 10.

Guest Lifeform
Just got this today in the mail from saiko sounds. My first impressions where a bit stange. But its been on repeat for about 3 or 4 times now, and it all seems to come together after a few listens. The first 2 tracks are very noisey, although the whole album is in a certain sense. yet this album is melodic in a weird and twisted sorta way. This cd is more about sounds and minipulation of them so i get the impression it's headphone music, but you could dance to a few of them (4-to the end). It seems Sean worked on this album with a bunch of other people and was recorded both in London and San Francisco. Tracks 1 and 8 are the only tracks he did by himself. Brainmelt was made with Benji, as questioned above. My only complaint so far is that some tracks kinda go off to no where and COMPLETELY change half way thru the track. I was listening without paying attention which number it was on, and i thoughtit was on track 5 and it was only on track 3. Not a big problem, but yeah... It's still good. Very well thought out release, excellent sound quality, and nice transitions from one track to the next. Overall 8/10.
Guest MG
Great album, 1st half Techy, 2nd Half Wacky/Trancy/etc. The sounds are what a process album seems to be about IMO. It is the new wierd sounds that is throughout a Process track that attracts me to his music and his sense of humour. Different than the 1st, Shorter than the 1st (59 mins). But I am glad I got it. 9/
Guest dernuk
I think that this surpass one drop or two by a LOT, this is the music of a man that know the path of psychedelic basis in all forms, sometimes very minimal, then it's trance-like and then it twist your mind ooooooooooooof._.-¨-_
