This one is full of the dark and progressive tracks that we are used to at the moment, with artists like Intact Instinct, Element, Atmos and so on. But, since this one is compiled by DJ Alex there are some Israelien tracks on it as well. California Sunshine seems to be back in a big way, appearing both on Goa Head 10 and this compilation. Must say that they have improved (again). The rest of the tracks are also excellent, with almost no exception. I'll move through it track by track. Track 1 on cd 1 is a dark and progressive song from Intact Instinct. From what I've heard so far from them I'm surprised that everyone thinks Acces All Areas is their best song. I think it is the weakest song of their cd. This one, in my opinion is a little better. I like the coin noises in this one. Track 2 is Ouija and DJ Alex. Ouija is SUN Project, and they deliver their groovy style as usual. People that don't like SUN Project will not fall in love wi! th this track. I like them, so to me this one is good. Next is Element witg Akasha. Some tribal percussions here and otherwise Element's somewhat groovy style. Excellent song. Feuerhake with 'Nö' sounds like Klangstrahler Project, only a little harder. Pretty good track if you get into it. Slap - The Lark is again, SUN Project. This one is a groovy little number that gets your body moving. At least, it does for me. Fans of SUN Project will like this. Those who loathe them will pass this song. Avatar - Machine Life is by Pete Martin (UX, Slide) and delivers a different style than his usual. This one is more progressive and dark, but still you can hear his influences. A great track and no mistake. Next up is Gabriel Le Mar, who is on his usual path here, nothing wrong with this one. Atmos delivers the goods with Medical Trauma. Excellent work, Thomas. Son Kite - Back Beyond Rotation is well known. Minimalistic at it's best here. CD 2 starts of with the epic The Great Unkno! wn. What is there to say but, Koxbox Rules!! Synchro comes up. Never could quite grasp his point, but this track is not bad. Up next Tim Schuldt and Detlev Funder with Lucy. The usual Schuldt style, although a little less harsh. (Guess the mix is meant for females, huh?) :-) The Delta produces the most dark goa I've ever heard, and this is no exception. This one is even THE darkest goa song I've ever heard. Must be in the mood for this, though. Midi Miliz - Good Time is a quite groovy song with lots of percussions at the end. Sounds a bit tribal. Noma delivers the usual dark, quirky style. Tarsis are known to make epic songs and this one sounds a bit empty at first, but then suddenly... WHAM! Total wipeout!! Damn, what a melody! Can't describe this one. Has to be heard to be believed!! What follows next is a quite melodic song by Boris Blenn. I like Electric Universe, so this is a great song in my opinion. California Sunshine puts a nice ending to this comp. Quite a relaxing t! rack and excellent production here. The bottom line of this compilation is: If you're not into progressive, skip this one and seek out one of the older tantrances instead. For me, excellent compilation. 8.5/
jaimz
why would there be a strong isreali presence if dj alex has compiled it? are you aware that dj alex is a german dj who has compiled most of nova tekk's compilations [tantrance, pulse, goa head, ect]? also, there's only one israeli track on here [california sunshine] and it's more cheesy melodic crap. this cd is good, but only if you haven't been following nova tekk releases. all these tracks are released, and all of them on nt sublabels [with the exception of avatar, gab le mar, the blenn and the california sunshine]. oh, and the slap and ouija tracks don't sound that much like sun project, they don't even have guitars. they're more toward the new progressive german sound. best tracks on this are the four carry nuts, midi miliz, ouija and tarsis. and if you think that delta track is dark, you sure haven't heard the album. and if you think it's goa, you sure have been doing a lot of crack. Guest Acidhive
Ehmmm .. Then what IS The Delta?? Techno?? I mean, get serious here. And crack?? I don't do ANY kind of drugs. Drugs suck! And SUN Project doesn't always feature guitars, listen to numbers like : Computer Breath and Alienated. You hear any guitars?? I don't, and if you do, then I don't know what kind of drugs you do, but you're certainly not sane. And by the way, California Sunshine is NOT cheesy. It's only melodic. But you're probably already braindead so you don't appreciate melodic anymore.
Guest sk8walk[at]hotmail[dot]com
Wish id never bought this one, but since i collect them i have to..... almost all tracks are progressive, and thats definently not my cup of tea, id rather hear some good ol' real psytrance again.... this album should be called ''a trip to progressive trance'' it sucks... *sighs* bad tracks, ALL except cd.2 tracks 3,4 and 5...... Guest damoneves[at]hotmail[dot]com
people please stop bickering. I actually agree with all that's said except the "goa" labelling. This is not goa, it's progressive psychedelic techno trance. The Detlta track is not bad but by no means their best effort. The tarsis track is the pick of the bunch. I bought this cd for one reason only - so i could have all of them. When # 11 comes out...I'll buy that too. Just 'cos it's Tan Trance. # 6 is still my favourite. Guest robgoatrance[at]libero[dot]it
Tantrance 9 is the first tantrance cd I've bought. I'm not very happy because only 3 o 4 tracks are interesting: cd1 track 9; cd2 tracks 7,8,9. The best track is california sunshine - coming home! Guest mr_shih[at]yahoo[dot]com
i can't say enough in favor of this compilation. all tracks are groovy, heavy, thunderous killers, except the last one which is a very nice melodic track. for best results play LOUD. this is a very powerful compilation with classics by heroes like atmos, son kite, midi miliz, koxbox and the delta, solid tracks by veterans like feuerhake, sun project and synchro, and a couple pleasant numbers by groups you may or may not have heard before. basically it nicely satisfies the goals of making a compilation. exquisite showcase of talent, 10/10.
