Guest Acidhive
V/A - A Taste Of Nephilim 2 Artist: Various Title: A Taste Of Nephilim 2 Label: Nephilim Date: 1999 Track listing: 01. 10'22" Har-Ell Prussky : Wonderland (12" Version) 02. 09'48" Mono Substance : Midnight Sunrise 03. 10'09" Von Aum : Outer Active Rainforest 04. 08'27" XIS : Echo Head 05. 08'43" Squaremeat : Bitch To Midi 06. 09'31" Kopfuss Resonator : Whipbird (12" Version) 07. 07'05" Biftek : Nylon Gods Review: And here we go with another Taste of Nephilim! Well, I'll just go by it from track to track. Track 1 is another one of Har-El's melodic old style goa numbers. Nothing special here, but worth a few listens. On to track 2 which is an absolute brain killer! Tim Schuldt at his best here. If anyone knows where to get some more stuff from Mono Substance, then please mail me! On to track 3 which is a long, pounding acidic sounding track just like we know it from these guys. I like this track, although I think many people won't like it. On to track 4 which is an Unreleased track from XIS. This one sounds a little more like normal goa then their other song on the nephilim taster (Broken Spirals), but it has a nice breakbeat and some cool breaks in it. More food for the partyfloor. On to track 5 which is so overwhelmingly SHIT, I usually skip it. For me track 5 does NOT exist! It's unbelievable you're dealing with the same guys as O-Men here. You have to hear this track just to believe ! how bad things can get. Progressive goa, ok. But this is BAD. Quickly on to track 6 which is Kopfuss Resonator's best song ever IMO. It's in the 12" version here, so even longer!! Really psychedelic, this one feeds your brain with pulsating 303 and hard beats. After all that violence, track 7 comes along and it's a more chill-like song. Slowly you fade away and dream.... In short, another pretty good nephilim taster, all tracks are pretty good, with a few outstanding ones (2 and 6) and one really bad one. (5) This taster is also rather cheap, so if you're looking for value for money, this one can be recommended. I must say though, that if you've got the money, look for some better compilation. 6,5/10 from me.
Guest shanttu[at]hotmail[dot]com
What? I would say that you could buy this album just because of squaremeats track, which is great. I know that to get in to finnish psytrance (if I can call it psytrance) is hard, but it gives you challences, its not so easy than the basic european commercial psytrance. I think that Squaremeats Squarebeat-album is a must have if you like finnish and australian psychedelic sound..
Guest darksmurf[at]yahoo[dot]com
Shitty compilation, indeed.. Squaremeat gives me a square brain.. Fins should stay in their caves in the woods instead of trying to make this drug inducing music for their kidz.. Fuck you acidhead ! Hate, darksmurf
Guest pauli[at]goatrance[dot]com
If you ask me, Squaremeats track is awesome! You just have to concentrate. It has really personal sound and weird groovy beats. Love it!
Guest Acidhive
Hmm listened to the Squaremeat track with headphones a couple of times now. What can I say? It grew on me. Comp gets a 7,5 mark now. Pauli is right. Groovy beats in the Bitch To Midi track and certainly a personal sound!!
