Guest Mindbender
V/A - A Taste Of Transient 1 Artist: Various Title: A Taste Of Transient 1 Label: Transient Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. Cosmosis : Key To The Innerverse 02. Slide : First Contact 03. Power Source : Granada (Agaba Mix) 04. Astral Projection : Mahadeva (Rmx) 05. Floorplay : Forbidden (Eurasian Mix) 06. Sub Unity Nettwerk : Lost World 07. Fahrenheit : Panacea (Cosmosis Rmx) 08. Disco Volante : Moonraker (Man With No Name Rmx) 09. Nada : Abyss Review: This is a compilation of older Transient stuff. On the whole this is very melodic, old school uplifting Goa. I'll go it through track by track. Key to the Innerverse is an ok track with screaming melodies, but I prefer the newer Cosmosis stuff. This is a bit too obvious and without many background sounds. First Contact by Slide is also ok. Spacy, but nothing special. Granada (#3) has some nice percussion and melodies, but otherwise is pretty basic. Still quite good. Astral Projection give some of their usual style, ok. Forbidden by Floorplay is a good track, with a very nice bouncy beat that reminds me of Miranda (especially Gnocchi) and nice melodies and riffs. Lost World (#6) is again quite an uplifting and spacey track, nothing special though and a bit too repetetive. Same line continues through Panacea (#7), without the excess repetivity. Disco Volante further continues the line, but this time with a similar beat to Forbidden and good melodies, but also brings back some of the excess repetivity, not that much though. Abyss by Nada ends this compilation and it's another track of the same style. Overall this compilation sounds old like it is and in the style 'I've heard that a thousand times before'. Still there are really no bad tracks, just old. So if you want to find some old melodic and uplifting Goa, here's a good bet if you can find it. 6/10. seraph
I don't have this compilation too and I can also recommend cause I have heard them before...and all of them are classics especially KEY TO THE INNERVERSE, GRANADA, MAHADEVA, MOONRAKER, ABYSS... Besides, the track listing is almost the same as on PSYCHEDELIC VISIONS, first disc, only 2 songs aren't the same...
