Artist: Menis

Title: Temporary Insanity

Label: Koyote

Date: 1998

Track listing:

01. 07'44" Temporary Insanity

02. 08'04" Zeitgeist

03. 07'26" Fluff Killer

04. 06'21" The Link

05. 07'27" The Drugs Do Work

06. 06'18" Mushroom Maze

07. 07'50" Insekure

08. 06'13" Sketch

09. 07'19" Drug Slut

Review:

Have a look at the track names, the cover art and the pics inside the

booklet. Is this paranoia or what. Do the drugs work?

I don't know but Menis surely has the answer.. YES THE DRUGS DO WORK!..

hehe, it's just so crazy.. this is a good album,

maybe it would be better with drugs, I'm not the man to judge that..but it

certainly feels so because the tracks are wicked

and filled with screechin sounds and people screaming. When listening to

Zeitgeist I think I'm down in a deep cave or

something, struggeling to get up. Have a listen 3:30 into Fluff Killer and

you'll notice the weirdness on this album.. hehe

these sounds are CRAZY motherfuckers. Sketch is nice soft ambient track,

which gets you in motion to finish this album, but

then Drug Slut drops by and that 'oh my god, i want more and more of this'

-feeling comes up in your head. Wicked release

by Koyote... Rating: 6.5/10

WiCKED WiCKED And WiCkEd! This is the most crazy and weirdest album in my

collection. Just listen to "Fluff Killer" (Which is the best one!)...it's just

too insane! but I love it! "The Drugs do Work"... I really don't know about

that but according to Menis they sure do (like deku above me mentioned).

Zeitgeist is also pretty nice with funky rythm and great melodies. Definitely

worth buying with only one or maybe two tracks that are'nt that good

just like jockis, I think this album is pretty good, but I just don't ever

listen to it. it doesn't have quite the appeal that some albums have. but,

nevertheless, it is a good album. 7/10

well.... hhmmmmmm. its good i guess. i dont know, theres just something about

it thats not grabbing me. i certainly dont think its all that crazy or wicked.

i dont know..its a little flat for me. i especialy got a little bored of the

same muffled kick drum in EVERY song. i mean i know its a silly thing to get

hung up on...but the kick is weak...very weak..and its the exact same kick in

every song. its not a bad album its just not all that good. theres plenty of

other stuff out there you could get that would be better.thers some good

sounds in there. i think its a little lack luster.

take our your headphones, and plug yourself in... this cd is fucking insane.

the first time i listened to this, i had just eaten mushrooms, and it made the

theme of my entire trip paranoia (and it wasn't that many mushrooms...)

seriously, this stuff can fuck with your head. that said, it's not very

interesting sober (except track 3), but makes very nice background music for

those long dark nights. just two complaints about this cd - first, it slows

down too much in the middle - just track 4, but it ruins the "vibe" for me a

little. that track would be better placed at the end of the cd. second, as the

review above states, the same beat is used on a lot of the songs, and it's not

very strong. but that just makes it bad party music, it's still very good trip

music in my opinion, at least if you like feeling like you're on the edge of

insanity... 8/10

Good album. The first three songs are great. Third is evil and angry as hell. Wow. I really like their zippy, psychedelic, melodic, bone-crunching style and texture.

Finally a good dark psytrance album with an emphasis on catchy/badass melodies.

Dark Goa/Psytrance albums are not common and a good let alone great one is rare. Although I wasn't impressed to the degree with this album than I was with Tandu, Cydonia, MFG's Project Genesis, it deserves to be on that list of the best dark Psy/Goa albums. There are some good and great songs here,  and very few I like little to not at all.

This is a very dark album, with occasional metal, industrial, and machine ambience and sounds sprinkled throughout. There are some fairly and very good melodies in almost every song. I didn't hear one melody that has yet stuck in my head but the strong, dark tone and general rhythm/feel of the album somehow makes a strong impression. Fluff Killer may just be the [most] well flowing pissed off and angry dark Goa song I have ever heard in my life. Furthermore, the first two tracks leading up to this explosive, violent and driving rage is excellent. The album's weakness is the dip it takes on track 4, The Link, a far from bad, mid/downtempo dark Goa-influenced trance piece, although far from great or all that compelling. The album quickly revives itself with The Drugs Do Work, a smiling return to badass greatness.

CONCLUSION

Temporary Insanity is a very well done dark Goa/Psy-Trance album with a rough and gritty edge and style throughout. There are moments and tracks that are quite angry and menacing, other times sleek and edgy-  and/or both. The synth work, general development and progression of the songs is great, especially although there is a slow song in the middle that could have both been better and placed at the end. Those into dark Goa who enjoyed Darshan's Awakening and Toi Doi's Technologic albums should check this out. Although not spectacular or what I'd call excellent from start to finish, the pros outweigh the cons by far! I consider this EASILY one of the better / best dark Goa/Psytrance albums out there, a rare gem. They just don't make them like this anymore!

Favorite tracks - 1, 2, 3, 5, 8

This isn't a dowload forum!!

on the cd: I don't think it is that weird ,like some of you say.

It think it is verry dark and allot of great ambient background sounds!

But it has more than only dark sounds , it has some(not much but some) great darkish melodies

some nice dirty acid like sounds

>extremly psychedelic album!

Verry good cd !> 9/10

Menis rhymes with penis.

That is all.

Ok, that's not all. The reviews above pretty much nailed it as a dark and menacing goa/psy album. While not on the same level as something from Syb Unity Nettwerk or Cydonia the similarities are there. Menacing, brooding, whatever you want to call it. The fourth track wasn't terrible, but it was severely misplaced IMO. Put that sh*t at the en or the beginning not right in the middle of the storm. That's like opening a lemonade stand during a hurricane.

Good album, just not great.

Really interesting album, unfortunately spoiled by poor production. Really lacking in stereo effects and uses the same weak kick and cymbal throughout. A remaster would elevate this from 'good' towards 'great' territory in my opinion... tracks 1, 3 and 5 are mindbending... sadly it's unlikely a remaster will ever happen

Great dark goa. The only tracks that are a bit iffy are Insekure and maybe Drug Slut, but otherwise it's a fantastic album in the realm of dark goa. The atmospheres and melodies are very memorable. Overlooked for sure.

"The Link" is one my favourite downtempo goa works ever.
