Guest AlexG
NO NO NO!!! People who like slow dark trance will NOT like this, and this does NOT sound like an akbum! This sounds like crap! There is not a song on the entire CD that can be called good. It's not that they're produced badly, but the songs themselves have nothing: no meaning, no message, NOTHING!!! I like minimal trance, but this is not good minimal trance. In fact, I really don't know what the hell they're trying to do here. This CD is such a disappointment. SST, more stuff like Kumharas, and NO MORE crap like this, please.
Jeto
well...of what I heard.. shiva space technology NEVER releases minimal.. so you shouldnt even expect such a thing from them. Its a nice compilation on the whole. Very groovy, maybe little slow but you can always pitch it up. 7/
Guest thanners[at]mail[dot]com
I was to disapointed with this compilation. But come on, you've got to give credit to Track 7 by Analog Dream. This track is a killer, the best on the cd, at least for now...I hope a better release can be expect from the great SST. Bring back the Shiva Shidapu STYLE!!! mars
Well...this is good & bad. To my mind the tracks have no soul: they are quite goodn but they pass & you feel nothing. ANYWAY I really like tracks 7 & 8 (the Analog Dream & the Suntec). If you like melodic trance this should be ok for you. 5 or 6/10.
Guest gizmo
HM, I think they've tried to do something like progressive, or minimal trance, maybe they've done it, but that was not so good work. Anyway couple of track are even good, but most of this stuff is boring & not inventive. 5/
Guest [Anonymous]
LOL What a mixed up bunch of reviews This is an interesting new style for SST.... probably better than video gameish Shiva Shidapoooo "uplifting melodic stuff" Lots of new sounds FINALLY instead of tired old synth lines is it just me or does this album also remind you of the new Shiva Chandra album - Auricular ? Shiva Shiva shiva indeed... lots of scraping and mechanical sounds yay 7/
Guest AlexG
umm...no, it's just you =) both of these (sst and shiva chandra) i find boring, BUT shiva chandra's sounds are amazing, really indescribable. the one thing he can do good is make sounds and position them in the mix, but his mixes i find very boring... the sst cd, on the other hand, has NO new or creative sounds, just beating down the same old minimal/progressive formula. this is what i have come to realize: some artists try to create new music, they have ideas and they just put them out, without trying to sound like something; others then hear their stuff and try to make stuff that sounds like it. more of the first type, please
Guest Goa Spirit
I was very dissapointed with this release.. i was not stimulated at all by the music here.. the cd cover is very nicely done, and there are a couple of cool paragraphs written on the box... the music in the cd however left a lot to be desired in my book,. i don't know maybe it will grow on me.. but as of right now i wasted my money on this cd.... Honguito
Come on guys! The electronical music is under a constant developement and naturally enough so is Shiva Space Technology. I guess you had too high expectations on this compilation because you compared it to the albums that were released before by SST. I find this compilation quite interesting, it's a new sound and I consider it being quite nice. But no, it's not like the old uplifting material that SST used to release, the old songs with crazy basslines and melodies and stuff are history. This compilation is absolutely not a compilation that I wanna listen to every day. But when I'm in that special mood, I'm sure I'll listen to it and enjoy it very much. The best tracks are: 1, 2, 4, 8, 9... I give the compilation the rating 7/10 But SST, even though I've taken your side now, I'm convinced you can do even better than this! Guest Vystril[at]aol[dot]com
i dont know what planet you people are on! i love this CD! its great, it reminds me of movers and groovers off of TIP... its got melodies, its complex!! its not just bass and some scrapy noises! some effort went into this work, i remember back when trance used to be complex and could take you places, this stuff does; not the new minimal wave i give it an 8/10 its well worth it! listen to it:)
Guest steve
Well...I love this compi! Very good production! Nice feelings...dark...groovy tracks! I want more like that! I also give it an 8/10 :-)))
Anoebis
V/A - The Call Of Shiva Artist: Various Title: The Call Of Shiva Label: Shiva Space Technology Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Cosma : The Call Of Shiva 02. Luminus : 13 03. Lemurians : Kinich Ahau 04. Shivanauten : From Beyond 05. Psysex : Macumba 06. Lemurians : Neurotic 07. Analog Dream : Euphemistic Visions 08. Suntec : Stamp 09. Diablo : Pagan Review: When you look at the tracklist (DJ Jörg + Luminus, Psysex & Psychonaut) you would think this is a fast and uplifting CD, but that's completely wrong!! Most of the songs have a bpm of 140 or less. The whole compilation is dark, groovy and very psychedelic. But specially the first 6 songs are too slow in my opinion... Last 3 songs are a little better, but nothing stands out for me! The style of the whole compilation is the same, that's why it sounds more like an album. To be real honest this was my first dissapointment from SST, but I'm sure that people who like slow dark trance like Element or Diablo will like it alot! Best songs are 4,7,8 & 9. This Cd deserves a 6/10, but the ARTWORK is fantastic! One of the most beautiful cd-boxes I've ever seen!! Bom Shankar
Guest [Anonymous]
Not the best or the worst comp in 2001, just regular trance... a bit slow i think, but psysex MACUMBA rocks man,,, really cool track
Guest crystaltrip[at]web[dot]de
Really psycho release fromm SST! I LOVE this cd All tracks are Killers, but nr.3 is a LITTLE bit slow....but the others are GREAT! BOM JAN
Guest Jason - Los Angeles, CA
Wow, a few people towards the end actually like this CD. I thought I was going to be the only outcast. I do love this CD. When I first listened I was very disapointed. Probably high expectations of the Erez and Jorg work prior. But the same thing happened when I first heard Digital Dance of Shiva. So, I gave it another chance with an open mind, not expecting the fast hard SST of before and wow, this CD is great. You can pitch it up if you don't like the slow tempo or really listen to it and realize how amazing and talented these artist are. My favorites are the Lemurians and Analog Dream tracks, but all songs are great in my opinion.
Guest FelipeLemosBrasil
VERY GOOS compilation, really progressive & psychedelic, 1st track is just good, Cosma album is much much better... 2nd track is really good, relaxing and psychedelic sounds, nice Building, nice synths... 3rd track is very dark, low and progressive, sounds good in a headphone, an intelligent track. Track 4 is a bomb track!! Scratches, Scrytches and Scrryetchiyes...hehehe. Better listen it HIGH!!! 5th track is the best track here, Psysex at his best!! Birds samples and mindbending sounds... GREAT!! Track 6 is maybe the worst here, nothing special. Analog Dream rocks with good guitars!! Nice surprise. Suntec & Diablo ends this compilation with some danceable tracks, nice for the day... 7,5/10.
Guest pantro
its good, u just need to understand it... its perfect for the slow and super psychedelic moment of a party, those when u just melt like vapour with the waves of the music... seraph
The compilation is good but that's all....I expected much more from it....Jorg made good colaborations with PSYSEX, that is maybe the best track here and with LEMURIANS...Bad collaboration is with LUMINUS, huh, what a boring track...End of the disc is interesting...Best tracks : 4,5,6,7,9.... 7/
Guest civ604
I used not to like it at first few listens but eventually it got better & better. Now I wouldn't call it just listenable, because it also DOES contain smth. within - to the pleasure of mine & those above my post. I don't care whether it could be better than as it gets. But this "entity within" at the same time isn't that clear, so one couldn't easily take it from unrespectable noise. Nuff concentration is required in order to dig this thing, as well as it is with Digital Dance Of Shiva. And sure as a whole it flows really well. Being somewhat progressive this work does not stray from the path successfully set by its predecessors. Rating: 7,5/10. Tchankov I.V.
