Guest Slidingtrancer
Electron Wave - The Uncertainty Principle Artist: Electron Wave Title: The Uncertainty Principle Label: Global Trance Network Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Quantum Flux 02. Photon Generator 03. Gravity Well 04. Vortex 05. Nanobots 06. Interstellar Asylum 07. Temporal Distortion 08. Neuron Tranceiver 09. Chromatic Aberration Review: Electron Wave hasn't really been reviewed here for some odd reason and I thought: well what the hell I have it anyway. Its made by one the guys from Dimension 5 and C. Clarke. First of all, this cd sounds much of the same and then some... If you are not into any 'oldschool-ish' stuff, skip this one. You have to be prepared to listen to the same style all along. Secondly, if you think Dimension 5 had cheesy melodies, skip this review. You have no taste!!! ( =) dont take this too seriously). Quantum Flux is very melodious to start with, a strong kickdrum and some nice bassline accompanies a nice melodic track. The second song starts with something I've heard b4, but not sure where. Again a very strong kick and bassline accompany a great melodic track.Maybe the synthline goes on for too long, or maybe I'm just a spoiled melodic listener. Now I should stop this review, people would say and just say whether its good or not. A buggery bastard I am, I of course won't. I'll skip Gravity well though, its just a very good track. Vortex is the best track IMHO and Nanobots is the worst ( it has a very annoying bleep all through the song and it takes the piss out of me) The rest of the songs are about the same, apart from track 6 which kicks major ass through that bassdrum I must say. Maybe Electron Wave should focus on make chilled stuff, their last track is one of the best 'last' songs of an album I heard in my life. Pure bliss, I could listen to 9 of those tracks on an album easily. I think this is an album for real goafreax who want us to go back to the old days. I dont feel it adds more than better production compared to old stuff. Best tracks: 4,7,9 Bad trax: 5 Overall rating 9.2/10 for freax like me, but prolly 7.8/10 for the average listener. Guest rx7style
Minimal melodic trance. It's not my style and it's not very interesting. On the first listen I really enjoyed it, but after another few times I realized how very similar it is throughout. It's not that I DISLIKE this album or minimal in general, but I can find better music out there to listen to.
Guest goakhan
I't's like ok....not outstanding. The melody lines in the songs are not that good and it goes on and on untill it gets boring. There's no special 'big' melody (like in Ra) and no sphere (like in D5). The basslines are really good; pumping. The last song is ambient and a good one. Overall 6,
Guest smg
I've also had this record for months but didn't review it, I was slacking ... I don't really understand why rx7 says this is minimal, it's just like calling dimension 5 minimal, cause this is very same. Just with different hooks and sounds, but same for most of the time. This is a guy from Ra (also D5) and Charlie clarke from D5. I've always loved their work and I also have all their side project records. Ra, D5, Hunab ku. Record itself is quite good, as already told, tracks tend to sound same very much. All of them are like good, none of them great. I like Dimension 5 stuff slightly better cause melodies are more exploding and powerful, this is just constant little melody which doesn't drive you... 8/10. It's been like month since the last listen and as tracks are very similar in quality, I can't really rememmber the best track, but Interstellar Asylum sure did have strong kick, and it was otherwise interesting too. Guest --== MiLeS ==--
The desperate -wants to be old skewl- crew behind Dimension 5 takes another shot at the void the progressive sellouts leave behind with a memorable 1996 Deja Vu experience. For a change, they kinda do it the right way, at least the synths are up to early Etnica standards. Just like the late Space Tribe release, it mangles recent Isra-old-skewl since this has doing it for -the love of 604- written all over it instead of that nasty motive called ehmmm... money. It won't take the -Twisted-, -Lets Turn On- or -IFO- trophy but that doesn't indicate that the exploding synts at the end of -Quantum Flux- aren't L337. Excellent release with more psychelic twists than 10 hip progressive releases...Play it at full-tilt, Electron Wave deserves it... 8.5/
Mergi
This is good, but not excellent... opens with a psy track, quantum flux brings us twisted effects and a flow that kicks. Photon generator is more psy ambient, nice melodic sequences. Gravity well, is an effect pumpin' track, could though become rather repetitive. Vortex is one of the better, begins with nice melodic sequence, then kicks of the psychedelic effects and in the end combines both, pretty powerful at high volumes. Nanobots, the track is as it's name, a few maybe a little ridiculous effects, quite repetitive, steady beat. Interstellar Asylum feels more Ra inspired, this more mysterious sounding effects and melodies. Temporal distortion has a greater feel, somewhat more powerful melodies and effects than some of the other tracks. Neuron tranceiver is another more psyched track, feels like it was a little inspired from 'Interstellar Asylum'. Chromatic Aberration is a slow mover, melodic and not too psyched like the other tracks... This album is perfectly good but it feels like somethings missing. 7.5/
Guest Zoltar
hmm btw i think it has been released on blue moon productions hq in 2000 first. nice melodic stuff like the other bmphq releases. is that label dead?
Guest 303
the best track is Nanobots
bwhale
This is not very good stuff. But don't just turn it off half way, rather skip to the end first because track 9 is amazing. The rest ranges between mediocre at best and crap.
rino
This is not very good stuff. What?!?! Bwhale man, if it wasn't for that thing they call taste, you and I would have already had a duel at high noon, no doubt about it dude! (kiddin' boy) I mean, massive respect and all, but Electron Wave's albums slays the living hell out of just about anything recorded with the intent of ripping parties apart. Uptempo, pumping, bound to reduce to dust music trying to sound overly spiritual or enlightened. Speaking of which, this one has the cheese factor toned down to the minimum, something "Magik Universe", "Second Phase" and, to a lesser extent the competent, "To Sirius" had trouble avoiding. Not to leave the impression that this is an ass kissing post, the first two tunes go nowhere. You'll find yourself listening to an identical 40 second segment on repeat for seven minutes minimum. Neuron Tranceiver and Neuron Tranceiver are so simple, bass heavy and structure-wise bleak: they revolve around repetitive melodic segments, and very linear leads and patterns, but if you're after stuff which will turn your old school goa trance party to a millenium New Year's eve without trying hard to sound dense with multiple layers, then Electron Wave is for you. Ferocious, light years from being innovative or genre challenging, it brings to the table party music that goes along with just about anything old school, with perfectly modulated percussion and effects. It doesn't wuite meets the standards "Transdimensional" set, but the good thing is that it doesn't even try to! That said, you'll have more fun listening to it! The last four tracks are by far the best, on the downside of things it did take five lackluster attempts to get there. 4/5 (for the overall energy and drive it has). Penzoline
Electron Wave - The Uncertainty Principle Global Trance Network 2001 1. Quantum Flux 7:32 2. Photon Generator 8:56 3. Gravity Well 7:03 4. Vortex 8:29 5. Nanobots 8:17 6. Interstellar Asylum 7:55 7. Temporal Distortion 7:18 8. Neuron Tranceiver 7:57 9. Chromatic Aberration 7:39 This is one of the most overlooked gems of all time in goatrance in my opinion, and I don't even know why! I came across this release when I was looking for something particular and was wondering how could an album from the Dimension5/Ra boys could be so forgotten and ignored. I couldn't even find a copy on the internet to preview it and had to actually invest to be able to hear it. Needless to say the suspense was killing me, I loved the concept in the album name and the cover art very much. Just google Electron Wave and Uncertainty Principle if you are not aware. It's all about electrical currents and whatnots. Like a reviewer on Discogs said, the concept of the album name and cover art reflect on the music, it sounds like the music has a clear concept of electrical currents sweeping through in every track. The style/production is very Dimension 5, but the theme changed drastically. I'm glad to say that this album is one of the best. As a concept album, as an album that just has tons of quality and richness in the music. I may try to write reviews for all of the tracks on this album, but right now I'll just mention some of the highlights. Vortex Oh boy. This is the perfection of the electrical current concept, the name fits completely. When the basslines kicks in, you are well aware of the sheer magnificence of this track. Small sparkling effects and the current like bassline seem to travel from the very beginning till the end with a very vortex like movement. Not even Dimension 5 - Second phaze, with it's strong basslines, manage to come close what vortex offers. The bassline is so powerful, so driving, one of the best basslines I have ever heard in goatrance. And the concept and execution is one of the best as well. Not many melodies, but that would break the concept. Temporal Distortion This track is more on the melodic side and the melodies you get are like you'd expect from the Dimension 5, except the production, all other effects and basslines follow a different concept. This track is epic with it's richness and depth. Bassline is very proponent like always, but here it's all about the melody and it's one of the nicest melodies I've heard. It's fast and driving and the effects that accompany it are so fitting on the concept. Chromatic Aberration This was a bit of a surprise of the album. As usual, you'd expect the closer to be a downtempo, sure, but this is not what you'd expect considering the concept and other tracks on the album. This feels like classical 70's floating space music with beautiful melodies, but goatrance style and effects that sound like electrical currents. This is just amazing, epic, beautiful, traveling, vast. Not many tracks like this exist in the goatrance territory. One of the strongest closing tracks ever. I like how these guys went out with such quality. (Considering Ra - 9th only consisted of one of the original members.) This is one of the most strongest and unique true-to-the-concept albums. Every track has sounds that reflect on those electrical current type of themes and the movement of the effects reflect on the cover I've posted there. It is very psychedelic. The basslines are extremely strong, and actually, some of the strongest basslines in goatrance are found here! I dare anyone to find a stronger bassline in old school goatrance than in Interstellar Asylum. What melodies there are, are great and not a single track is bad here, albeit I find the first two tracks a bit worse than the rest of the album, but that's not to say they are even that bad. They are very good, but just sound a bit more repetitive, even though the whole concept is basing on repetitive sound waves. The basslines in them sound more typical and can't carry as strongly as the rest of them do. I don't understand why this is so overlooked, the quality and concept are rich and it's from the Dimension 5 boys! I bought mine, sealed, for 4 euros! I know the first Blue Moon release maybe one of the sought one's, since it's so incredibly rare(Like all blue moon) But I still don't have a clue why would I be able to buy this 2001 re-release sealed for so cheap. Not that I'm complaining, I always enjoy saving money, but you get my point.
Manuser
Track 5 Nanobots sounds so close to Dimension 5 - The Y principle, if you like that track check Nanobots. I agree the closing track is beautiful. Vortex is awesome, the whole thing is psychedelic and well produced. IMO it is better, more mature than Hunab Ku. Goa-Head
Not sure if I got your reply but the GTN version (as pictured in the 1st post) normally sells for the price of a Happy Meal.

Trance2MoveU
"That is brilliant!" No it's not. This is kind of boring actually. It doesn't even come close to the melodic tour de force of D5 or Ra. I can see why someone slapped the minimal tag on it earlier in the thread because there are long stretches where nothing happens. Lacks punch. Clearly it's not terrible, but just adequate. Aside from Temporal Distortion this left me wanting. Lots of better stuff if you need your goa fix.
