Guest David.gonneau[at]answork[dot]com
Colorbox - Train To Chroma City Artist: Colorbox Title: Train To Chroma City Label: Cleopatra Date: 1997 Track listing: 01. First Stop - Greenvich 02. CYANid 03. Greenious 04. Next Stop - Bluesville 05. Kinky Pinky 06. Indigo 07. Next Stop - Blacksfield 08. Grey Spook (Eastside Mix) 09. Grey Spook (Westside Mix) 10. Last Stop - Yellowstone 11. Maroon 12. Goldfish Review: Hell what a colorfull cd ! I first discovered colorbox on the "Worl of Goa Trance" compils (very good ones, all 3 of them) and I was amazed by a track from colorbox : cyanid. One thing that can be said about them is that they know how to make goa ! As Astralprojection masters that art, colorbox (René & Kenneth Abildgaard) has its unique style but can make very different goa style. At least that's what they say on their homepage (http://home6.inet.tele.dk/baas/COLORBOX/colorbox.html) . They describe their Album like a trip : the train goes through 4 cities and in each ones, 2 musics of the same style are played. That way we have some tracks that look likes a bit the same. But my oh my, what awesome tracks ! Each one is a killer here, it's something you don't often see, except on some Astral Projection albums or other killer artists. Tracks 1&2 are wonderful and with some similarity. Track 4 is peraphs the only "average one" in this album. Other tracks are just as well awesome as the firsts ones. Each track areI got that album 2 weeks ago and I've listened it a billions times . A funny thing to know, they always name all their tracks with a color, out of the color box . I give it 9.5/10 and trust me I know a lot of goa . Dulak !
Guest Per Sterud
This was one of my first experiences in Psy-trance, and it continues to be one of my favorites (probably BECAUSE it was one of my first experiences -- doesn't that tend to be the case? [Probably why people stay hung up on Astral Projection for so long]). One of the best parts about this album, besides having a truly distinctive, acidic, full-on sound rich in complex and spiralling melodies and rhythms, is that it's based on the concept described above, that of a train travelling to different cities based on color. The idea of an album based on a concept such as this is novel, and has yet to be explored by other bands who are more interested in setting up a climax-oriented, dancefloor arrangement, or a simple up/down-tempo arrangement of songs. Despite having been released on Hypnotic, this album really is a treat (but their crap label could've been suicide for them, because I haven't seen or heard a peep from these guys since '98). The first (second, really, after the intro) track, CYANid is the standout track. The samples on the latter half of the album are all very scientific and interesting (worm holes, space-time, etc.). I find it hard to be truly objective about the album, so I'm going to be biased and give it a 9/10.
Guest rx7style
This album is the shit. Such different sounds, so strange, so cool. I haven't listened to an album that has sounds even remotely like this. The melodies are sooooo cool and unique. One of my all time favorite tracks is Greenious: such sweet melodies with a bassline that pounds! I mean really, this album is fantastic, and I don't understand why more people haven't listened to it! Top 10 for me -- takes some time to get used to their completely unique sounds, but after a few listens, best tracks are 2,3,5,6,11,12 **9.5/10**
Guest [Anonymous]
Big thanks to you Epic / psterud ! Both for the recommendation and then of course the delivery !! This is the kind of sound that attracted me to the psychedelic trance vibe years ago - and yet so fresh ! Like beginning the journey once again ! The nuts as we say down my way !! bomble

seraph
Amazing album ! Bypass Unit guys in their other project COLORBOX and here they went entirely into goa trance. Whole album has a concept and it is beside using similar sounds and structures pretty varied. I like their concept and the best tracks are : CYANid, GREENIOUS ( ! ), KINKY PINKY ( ! ), INDIGO, GREY SPOOK, MAROON...9/
Perception
super album, the sound of color box is like pure expression of goatrance can't get enough of it this is highly melodic goatrance with melodies that tell a story aren't we all looking for that
qa2pir
As you can see, this album is divided into 4 parts, each with an intro/interlude and two real tracks, and all tracks are named after colours. That's quite a nice concept, and the 4 different parts actually have different styles. The first part is the best, with good atmosphere and nicely constructed melodies. The 2 middle parts are more acid and noisy, and the last part goes back to the more melodic side of it. The last track "Goldfish" contains a hidden track, some minutes of calm chillout music. So this track isn't really 13 minutes but rather 2 different tracks (there's even some seconds of silence between). Overall, this is not essential, but good, and the style is varied. 6/10. Baas
Well .. To make things right here: Colorbox is NOT the Bypass Unit guys' other project. Bypass Unit consists of my brother René and two / three other musicians. Colorbox is my brother and I. So yes; there are some similarities. I also mixed one of the Bypass Unit tracks (Zibling Zwirl) but other than that the cast is different :-) Thanks for the kind words guys !! Baas
520507[/snapback] Well .. It's been so long now - and my brother and I don't make music together anymore. But who knows what will happen. I just honestly doubt for a Colorbox sequal - but who can ever tell. KennethA

Guest Cosmogenesis
Definitely, my favorite release from Hypnotic records with "Optimystic" from Psygone! This album is a pure masterpiece, all the tracks are awesome and emotional. I like the concept of a couple tracks for every station with, for each, a specific atmosphere and harmonic feeling. A special mention for "Grey Spook" (Westside mix) and "Indigo": they are the kind of tracks that stays in your mind (especially because of their dark spiritual background & pads), and can make you to meditate about the infinity. 10/10 for this diamond stuff! How sweet would the lineup of Filteria, Khetzal and ColorBox be? Can't wait. Oh, by the way congratulations on the birth of your daughter, and the album was absolute magic.
