Review:

This one seems to be the last gasp of anything decent Kickin has kickin'

around. There are a lot of very forgettable tracks here, with a few good ones

(Mind the Gap, Alen Nation Part 2, Sex Drugs And Acid Trance) and a few

standouts (Hydrophonics, One Small Creature: attention GMS, more like this

please). The discs are about 55 mins each too, so it really seems they just

stopped caring. This isn't worth the money. It's nowhere near as mindbending

as TC4, 5, 6 or 7.

This CD is a real mixed bag, some good tracks, but some real shit ones as well.

Of note on CD 1 are tracks 1,2 (totally stomping track from Miranda) and the

brilliant Cybernaut song. CD 2 is much better, accept for tracks 3 and 4.

Another complaint is that this CD is Gatecrasher style mixed, no real thought

went into the mixes or order of tracks, feels like the entire compile was

thought through when the DJ was having a shower or something like that. Just

having full tracks would make it much better. Probably not worth buying, worth

a listen if you can lend it of someone.

"Beyond that black hole...a point where time and space as we understand it no longer exists."

Listening to this now and if you realize that today everything old is new again, a la Zion604 and DAT Records, this isn't that bad. Of course you have Miranda's Gnocchi and Mutate and Survive by Somaton, but some of the lesser known tracks really bring it. Like Xone by MOS and Boxed by Tufaan. Sneaky and sharp little skullf*ckers if you ask me. Perhaps people were disappointed with this because they were ready to move on from goa (insane). You know they were fed up with goa if the small number of posters in this thread went gaga over a crappy Twisted Travellers track. The second disc veers off into psytrance territory and not particularly good territory at that. GMS followed by Nervasystem, followed by COP, (which was a good track by the way) and then SUN Project...it's like they were lining up to kick me in my tomatoes. That guitar in Sex, Drugs, and Acidtrance is excruciating.

I agree that the mixing is crap, but you know when you're on number 8 in the series...the quality tends to dip a little. Check the Nightmare on Elm Street ahem, franchise.

If you see this in the store don't get any of it on you.
