Guest smg
V/A - Trancentral 9 Artist: Various Title: Trancentral 9 Label: Kickin Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. 07'01" Guidance : Destination 02. 07'24" Lunar Asylum : Water Margin 03. 07'41" Kaaya : Braindance 04. 06'07" Infernal Machine : The Loin King 05. 08'12" Montauk P : X-plore 06. 07'57" X-Dream : The Second Room 07. 07'25" Doof : Destination Bom 08. 08'42" UX : Alien Earth Activity Review: This record is good (but BEWARE : that's the same as Trancentral 6 CD2) . I would say there are no bad tracks. There are transitions in between all of the tracks, and you can't really say when the track changes. It's indexed even between kicks . After listening this cd for nearly 3 weeks, I came up to a conclusion that Doof's track is the best, it is kinda monotonic, but in a good way. You can listen it for some time...and then ask yourself - Where was I for last 7 minutes =) ?. It's simply so hypnotic, just great. Doof's best I've heard (Haven't heard that many though). Lunar Asylum's track is very good too. Guidance, UX, Montauk P and Kaaya have managed to make some very neutral tracks here. Very regular goa, Kaaya and Montauk P might be even a bit boring. X-dream, for that matter, disappointed me this time, I was expecting for something more... Infernal Machine's "The Loin King" is kinda good as well. It's written by "Walter Ego", who is Simon Posford, if I've understood right. Which would be reasonable, because in my opinion it has *exactly* the same kickdrum as "Snarling (Rmx)" has on Simon's second full album "The Lone Deranger". Bom! freak51
Expect to get out of the Doof track what you put into it. There are some very, very intelligent devices. Every iteration changes a tiny fraction, so it creeps. The guitar [i.e., the main line] is a bit harsh-sounding today though. I'd like to see an overhaul with some different sounds, more muted. Keep in mind that the record is actually from 1997 (TC6, KICKCD51), so it's no surprise that most of it shows its age. Destination is an excellent segue from hardcore into psy-trance, or the other way around. And the consistent, hard kick-drum that stays in for minutes at a time is very easy to match, so this can be a first track following someone else's slightly different style. Guest ultra terrestrial being
havent heard it, but what a scam releasing old trancentral music as new compilation...alll these trax you can find elsewhere or already in your collection. If this is the centre of trance i'll stay on the outskirts... Bom not Bomb
Guest vernon sullivan
pretty nondescript comp, except for the last track which is only 120bpm but really stomps, has a sample from the red hot chilli peppers "the coffee shop", strange to here a psytrance tune sampling rhcp but it rocks!
