There are 2 cds, both are the same exept that Jean has mixed together the second cd into a mix cd. How about the tracks then... well, Track 1. is very good I think, a bit dark. Track 5. is also kinda good, Then the Track 6. from Bamboo Forest... well, what can I say, this track is truly the best on this compilation, very hard and evil wich I just LOVE on the floor!!! Then there is Track 7. from Astral...hmm... not the best from Astral but, IT`S ASTRAL! =) At last I´ll give the whole compilation a 7/10, it´s for sure a good compilation worth to pic up. Guest disco
Very good compilation. I like how you get a mix cd and a non mix cd. Favorite tracks: 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9. Surley this cd is worth the buy. Especially if you like stuff coming out of Transient. 8/
Guest [Anonymous]
just wanted to add, tracks are numbered like a countdown, 9-1, and the mix on cd 2 is great. to me it sounds just a long build- up all through tracks 1-5 (9-5).
Guest Dr G
I am something of a fan of Jean Borelli as he seems to have made really good tracks in the last couple of years, tracks like "pots n pans" and "deep weed". However, this much earlier Transient compilation compiled by him is not really one of the stand-outs of the generally excellent Transient series, in my opinion the earlier ones were better. However, that is not to say that this is a bad comp, just that it is uneven. Special mention should be made of the Mumbo Jumbo track which has the Bilbo Bagginz magic, as does the Cosmosis vs dj Pied Piper track which is simply brilliant - this is one the classic Goa tracks as far as I am concerned - deep, scary, growly, heavy chords, really puts one into an altered state of consciousness. This track reminds of Hallucinogen's classic first album, particularly "Growling Mabel" (I can't remember the title of that track exactly). So a cautious recommendation then; not a brilliant comp but worth having for "grindwinder" alone. 6/10. ~*~
Trance2MoveU
Artist: Various Title: Transient VII - Genetically Modified Trance Label: Transient Records Date: April, 1999 CD 1 01. 07'34" Cosmosis And DJ Pied Piper : Grindwinder 02. 08'30" Sheyba : Inside Out 03. 08'42" Human Blue : Planetarium 04. 07'27" Fidget And Slide : Overdose 05. 07'42" Mumbo Jumbo And DJ Kuma : Kinda Weird 06. 09'22" Bamboo Forest : Automix 07. 08'58" Astral Projection : Visions Of Nasca 08. 06'47" Slide : Cartoon Land 09. 07'33" Mino And Sangeet : 3D Cauliflower. It sucks. You know it sucks. End of discussion. Nobody ever brings cauliflower to a BBQ or even sets it out on a vegetable plate. It's like nature's very own fart cloud. I don't care how much cheese or ground up bacon you put on that sh*t it's still a bland, unappealing vegetable. Carrots? You can glaze those bad boys up and make 'em taste like candy. Potatoes? I don't think it's possible to f*ck up a potato. Fry it, mash it, bake it...all good. But cauliflower is a non starter. Like riding a bike with square wheels. And that's what I think of this compilation. The melodic days of goa were in the rear view at this time as was the glory of the Transient series. It was a time of transition towards experimental psy and less complex arrangements. Sure they recycle the Astral classic here, but it sticks out like a roasted sausage on a vegetable skewer. Yeah you'll eat it and wonder how the hell it got there smiling at your good fortune, but then you'll just throw the rest of that crap away. Besides you know you have sausage at home. Planetarium is an ok carrot and Grindwinder is a great bacon wrapped scallop. And now you look like a freak cause you're hoarding the tray of bacon wrapped scallops as if you were a convict that just got a second chicken pot pie. But after that you're left with broccoli in your teeth and a lot of noisy and uncomfortable farting. I suppose the 2nd CD as a mix CD is good for DJ's, but...I dunno. If you have a bowl of crap what the hell is mixing it gonna do? Then you'll start thinking about how good that sausage tasted and wondering what the f*ck you were doing at a vegetable BBQ in the first place. It's wrong. Vegetable. BBQ. Those words don't even go together. Mdk

Goa-Head
Definately, don't agree with this review. It's indeed a compilation with a couple of usual suspect artits right a few time after the true goa sound was over but this release still contains some solid tracks. It's early '99, the music was alraedy heading darker and less melodic yet there are still melodic parts blended with dark(er) parts. And as usual with Transient there are (were) never really bad tracks IMO, either good (and super good) or average ones, and some filler. Keep that weak sh*t away from my BBQ! That's the great thing about our music. There were so many compilations where tracks were recycled that if you didn't like some of the tracks chances were good the ones you did like were on other compilations that were better. I liked some of the tracks (probably some parts of all of them), but for me those parts were surrounded by too much I didn't like. Life is too short (and hard drives too small) to hang on to underachievers. But I like what we're doing here...differing opinions, respectful discussion. Makes for a better forum. Seriously though... cauliflower sucks. Mdk
