I have serious difficulty mixing with anything else, because everything else is shit, so whenever I encounter non-Pioneer units I just mix old-style [ie, crossfading one track into another]. But most people are pretty clued in and provide Pioneer units. However, I highly recommend saving up for your own decks. Practise makes perfect, and having your own decks to learn the finer points of beat mixing and, even more importantly, eq mixing, really pays off. Good luck in your spinning! If they do not have pioneer CDJs and they can not get it, I bring my own then.... ad headphones: if you are albe to play with every headphones you are lucky man .... it is better to bring your own!!! sometimes you can get very bad headphones for your ears .... every dj should have his own headphones IMO I dont know if you can be serious dj without your own home-equipment...it might happen.... but it is better to have your own and practise....practise is everything... Guest v4K Posted August 8, 2002 Share Posted August 8, 2002 IMO the key to be a good DJ is Practice and Patience, if you don't have acces to a DJ equipment for enough time to practice than I think it'll be better to get your own, other ways it'll take more time to domain the mixes. When I play at partyes I usually bring my stuff, it's more confortable and usually the organizers get denon for DJing... and Denon suxxx, you can't never pitch'em togheter... v4K Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I prefer working with pioneer, but gemini is fine... As you know, Purchasing equipment in Israel, is an expensive buisness, and a good dj setup can cost you around 6000 NIS (1200-1300 $)... So, if you're serious about being a dj, and you're willing to put in a lot of time (and money), then you should get your own system, despite the high price...
