Guest deighv[at]angelfire[dot]com
this is the first piece of electronic music that ever effected emotionally. it blew my mind back in 1994. transmissions is one of the corner stones of all that exists today. it may sound dated now and better sounds have surely been created since its release, but it deserves its respect and recognition. in my opinion, juno reactor peaked with it. ps, 10,000 miles is the best trance song ever put down. (with the exception of Beast 'spawn').
Guest Davidtolsn
the first goa cd, in my opinion. not bad, pretty chill. some good melodies, and i love the last ambient track. recognizable juno reactor style. if you want to hear how goa started, give it a listen. 7/10 but 10/10 for the time it was made. vision
Juno Reactor : Transmissions is one of the first succefull trance releses; recorded on proffesional studio. Ofcourse it dose not sound like GOA trance in morden understanding of this music, but it's GOA by nature. Especially tracks like High Energy Protons , The Heavens, Man To Ray. It sounded completely different from ewerything that was published at the beging of 90-s. Maybe there are some acid house influence in tracks like Luna-Tic, Acid Moon, Laughing Gas. There are also a good cill out track Landing, and some experemental material Contact, 10000 Miles. (that stuff will become traditional for Juno's albums). Album was supported by two singles released the same year Laughing Gas and High Energy Protons. The last one contains wondrfull remixes on The Heavens and High Energy Protons itself. This track I think is should be considered as one of the best GOA classix ever made. Transmissions is the turning point in development of trance music and first step of unique Juno Reactor's style that won't change much during the following 10 years. It's great from time to time listen to this record just to feel real GOA iside you!. P.L.U.R
Tolik
Transmission sounds nowadays like a naive children but it really SOUNDS! It is like Beatles for rockers sounds nowadays. This is a pioneer Goa Trance that looking for how to express this spiritual cosmic feeling inside your mind. Comparing with those days music 9/10. qa2pir
Magic album from a past world.. 9/10 EDIT: No, there's no way this gets less than 10/10 9 tracks perfectly accompanying each other, in perfect order. These magical things happen 10.000 miles away from here.
psypras
i cant believe that over half of you say you dont like it, or call this goa trance. you are so wrong. it just techno, but not just "just" its one of the greatest albums ever. and its in my alltime top ten!
r8dnt1
Review: Sorry, I don't call that Goa ! That's why I don't like this album ... Don't like Tracks 2,3,4,5,8 and 9 at all ... Rating : 2/10 482181 I wouldn't call it GOA as I know GOA to be today either, but I would say it is trance...but it depends on what "glasses" you are viewing the album with. I think many other people have stated what I am about to, so sorry for the repeat - When I got the promo from NovaMute back in the day (I was in radio at the time) this was one of the more unique things I had ever gotten (not to mention the Orb too) Sure, you listen to this today and you can say "meh" but you need to remember this was around the time of really borderline "techno"... This was an album that pushed the edge, and made others push their music to a new level as well. This is no question in my mind that this album was something special at the time and it great to revisit once and awhile.
Guest Cosmogenesis
My favorite Juno Reactor's album personnaly, and I find it more goa orientated than their other albums, especially than their last one: "Labyrinth"!
r8dnt1
My favorite Juno Reactor's album personnaly, and I find it more goa orientated than their other albums, especially than their last one: "Labyrinth"! 574859 Yea, Labyrinth was - it essentially sounds like - a bunch of reject songs from the Matrix. The album has moments, but... falls flat for me.
Jon Cocco
JUNO REACTOR - TRANSMISSIONS 1993 Track list: 01. 07'11" High Energy Protons - A 02. 08'08" The Heavens - B+ 03. 07'03" Luna-Tic - B+ 04. 07'39" Contact - B+ 05. 06'54" Acid Moon - B 06. 08'17" 10000 Miles - A 07. 06'36" Laughing Gas - A- 08. 08'19" Man To Ray - A- 09. 07'10" Landing - B+ / A- Transmissions is a classic. It's such an underrated gem. In 1993 Juno Reactor was making what we would later call Goa-Trance and the genre title wasn't even known back then! This is a groundbreaking album. Sure it's old now and some songs sound more Trance influenced than what we'd now call Goa. However this may be their most Goa-esque album to date. There are no bad tracks or one's that seem misplaced on this album. High Energy Protons, Laughing Gas, and Man To Ray are awesome. The Heavens is really good, great. Luna-Tic is driving and makes good use of its sounds, Goa melodies, and build ups. Contact has a wonderful melody comprised with a unique, elegant, moving feel and oriental sound. Only track I don't like so much is Acid Moon. 10000 Miles is incredible and unlike anything I've ever heard. It has a nostalgic, almost classy, old-school video game-esque melody or sound to it. Landing is a terrific ambient piece. You may float away when you least expect it. When I think 1993 I'm seldom more impressed. Aged production aside, there are tracks on this album that, if released today, would be considered great. This is a super debut from an exceptional group. I really love some of their tracks here. Favorite Tracks - 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8. A-
abasio
Juno Reactor's first album is still on pretty heavy rotation with me. It is 20 years old and it still sounds great. High Energy Protons and 10000 Miles are standouts in a standout album. Smooth and trancey: brilliant!
Multi-Media
Only have track no. 1 this one must be one of the first goa-tracks I actually bought (on some sampler) while I got much stuff before from 2 friends on tape back in the days.. It seems they now do more ethno-ambient stuff, right?
