Guest Dj Moksa
The sound on this ep is far different than the minimal-techy Walhalla tracks that I'm used to. Triplicate is fast paced and energetic with screeching cuts to guide the journey. The rolling bassline is one that has been used many times before, and is the one fault for the track. Besides that, a great track!!! Fun and adventurous trax with one hell of a climax to set the party on fire. Formantik Headache is way to monotonous with no real direction. Kind of boring. Overall...great ep but stick to Triplicate for all you psycho-needs! (8/10)
Guest Stormbringer
Walhalla - Triplicate / Formantik Headache Artist: Walhalla Title: Triplicate / Formantik Headache Label: Moon Spirit Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Triplicate 02. Formantik Headache Review: I don´t know much about Walhalla yet but I´m sure we´ll hear a lot from C. Michaud & J. Regnier in the future. This ep, which must be one of their first releases (they´ve released another one on Sub Machine too), doesn´t sound groundbraking but it´s still very good. "Triplicate" (9/10) is true to the french full-on-sound of Moon Spirits and 3D-Vision which is energetic and pounding without to many cheesy melodies. I really like this stuff which beats the crap out of you with a bpm well over 150. Strange noises and a driving beat, what more can you possibly need :-) Well... as I said, this isn´t anything new but it will sure work on the dancefloor. "Formantik Headache" 6/10) is slower and lacks a lot of energy compared to "Triplicate". The first 60% of the track is something I could do without and that long pause before the last 40% of the track sounds more like a intro than a break. If you´re into the french sound you should buy this, you won´t be dissapointed. Atleast one of the tracks is a killer.
mars
I found those tracks boring while i had loved the previos tracks from Walhalla. It seems those have been done in a hurry. too bad coz the potential is here! Something around 5/10.
Guest iNFiNiTi500
-Formantik Headache- has a strangely compelling effect on me every time I hear it, those thunderous hypnotic synths that emerge after the evil sample are simply mindblowing IMO. Definately listen to this if you appreciate Etnica during their Equator period although it also vaguely resembles CHI-ADs briljant Pathfinder 2000... -Triplicate- is a tad too linear, fast and unadventurous for me, probably overdosed on the 3DVision style...
