Guest Deku81
V/A - Trip Through Sound 2 Artist: Various Title: Trip Through Sound 2 Label: Blue Room Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 09'41" Montauk P : Hallucinate 02. 01'54" Koxbox : Midnight At The End 03. 09'05" Acid Rockers : Messages From Jupiter 04. 07'32" Metal Spark : Sonic Feet 05. 07'59" The Delta : As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling 06. 07'05" Juno Reactor : Jardin De Cecile (Man With No Name Rmx) 07. 07'26" Johann : Brainspinner 08. 07'25" Saafi Brothers : Internal Code Error (X-Dream Rmx) 09. 07'17" Total Eclipse : Direct Motion Review: Starts off good with the Montauk but according to my sources this is and old track. Then a strange interlude by Koxbox.. that track is almost hardcore at the end. Acid Rockers And Metal Spark contributes with breakbeat tracks, both very mediocre. Then the trip through sound moves on to Delta track which I think everyone of you have heard. It's a classic track and pretty good. Ok, so onto MWNN remix, which is very much his usual style, ordinary soft psy trance. Johann continues the trip with a harder track than MWNN and I like this track =). Weird sounds a nice tempo, a bit repetitive though.. an X-dream remix on a Saafi Brothers track should relly be great, and so it is , soft and down-tempo track. Respect to both these artists!! The next track from Total Eclipse goes on in the same tempo, this track could fit on the "Relaxation" cd from Violent Relaxation.. so if you heard that, you know the style, ambient stuff just like it should be on the end of a cd of this sort. Well the journey is complete, and to be honest I think it's way to many different styles here. Sure you can find some songs that you like, but I don't think anyone will like all the tracks, they're so different from each other. From my point of view the first Trip Through Sound is better. 5/10.
Guest Ubik
I was very disappointed after the great first volume I agree with DQ, there are too many different styles here. Beside the Koxbox interlude, I don't like the first half of the cd, but the other half is good : I like a lot tracks 6,9,8,7 (in this order). 6/
Guest SpaceCowboy2002[at]hotmail[dot]c
Unfortunately, most tracks on this album leave something to be desired. The ones that stand out above the rest are track 2: Midnight at the End by Koxbox (wish it was longer), track 4: Sonic Feet by Metal Spark, and without a doubt, track 6: Jardin de Cecile (Rmx) by Juno Reactor. Juno?s original version of Jardin de Cecile was very nice, and so is the remix. The rest however, are pretty weak. It is apparent that the creators of these tracks tried to evolve them, but for some, it is just too little, and it arrives too late. You should probably save your money for a better album. 6 out of 10.
Guest skincom[at]mullum[dot]com[dot]au
This is a choice album of blueroom sounds with a compilation of many of the big names in the underground trance scene. The first track by montauk p is wonderfull play loud and feel the ground shake with that sub driving bass and trickling side stick. although it states it is off montaukp first album it doesn,t actually appear on def =lim. The koxbox track although short is almost a lesson in constructed electronica the tempo change which kiks in towards the end does my head in every time, only problem is this wonderfull piece is too short. there should be something on this release to appeal to most lovers of trance /goa music. Acid rockers can fuse breaks into trance which isn,t easy.great stuff rating 9 to 9.5 out of 10 Love and light Richard :-)
