Guest mikko.itkonen[at]kolumbus[dot]fi
V/A - Deck Wizards : Tsuyoshi Suzuki : Core Artist: Various Title: Deck Wizards : Tsuyoshi Suzuki : Core Label: Psychic Deli Date: 1996 Track listing: 01. 8'13" Juno Reactor : Rotorblade 02. 4'44" Hybris : Citizens 03. 6'52" Tufáan : Tufáan (Green Nuns Of The Revolution Remix) 04. 8'19" Technossomy : Pyramid 05. 7'32" Oligo : Track 4 06. 1'27" Deedrah : Reveraze 07. 9'12" Koxbox : Fuel On 08. 9'04" Chakra & Edi Mis : X Files (Monkey Mix) 09. 7'03" Prana & Amanite FX : Black Rain (Original Mix) 10. 6'59" Bass Chakra : 230,000 Miles (Initiation Mix) 11. 7'16" Prana : Primal Orbit (Tribal Trance Mix) Review: The cd is in the mix, mixed by Tsuyoshi Suzuki, greatest goa-dj in Japan. Cd starts off with (1) Juno reactor track called "Rotorblade", which represents their old style quite well, slow and boring. I just don't wanna listen to this track... (2) Hybris - Citizens is better, it's faster by 10bpm, and has more interesting melodies and rhythms. Old but good goa sound here. (3) Tufaan - Tufaan (GNOTR RMX). I have heard original, but i don't have clue how it sounded, so can't compare now, but still, as always GNOTR stuff is very tweaky with gurning 303's. (4) Here we have an all time classic Technossomy - Pyramid, this is the ultimate goa feeling track, nice melodies and rhythms, very distant (but great) feeling, makes me fly. I suppose most of fans know this one. Anyways, together with X files by Chakra and Edi mis this is the highlight of the album. (5) Oligo - Track 4 is somewhat weird with its changing kickdrums and so, but hey, most important thing is that track is not boring, and this is not... (6) Deedrah - Reveraze, disappointment of this album, not as track itself (on the contrary, it's great track), but the fact that Suzuki has mixed everything but 87 secs out of it makes me cry. (7) Koxbox - Fuel on, kinda good track, good old koxbox style, very noisy with all those 303's layering...nice psychedelia... (8) Chakra & Edi mis - X files, very good track. Great rhythmic sections and *very* danceable melodies that keep you moving the whole track. Sharing the "best track of the album ;)" title with Technossomy - Pyramid. (9) Prana & Amanite FX - Black rain. Rest of the album is more or less Suzuki himself playing, as he is part Prana and Bass chakra. So, Black rain is good track, melodic all the way and not boring at all. (10) Bass chakra - 230,000 miles (initiation mix) is a little less good, but ok track anyway. It has melodies and noisy 303's, cool. (11) Prana - Primal orbit (tribal trance mix), is also a good track... on some extent I don't find it very driving, although it arguably has very nice rhythms... good track anyways. What do the tracks have in common? Yes, tribal rhythms. Most of the tracks have more or less adapted this tribal trance style, and you can definitely hear it. Some use it more than others, some use it better than others. Not to mention most of the tracks have these grinding old basslines which sound great... all in all this compilation is good for mixed one (generally hate these), and I think it deserves good grade, a 7.5/10. Best track is "Pyramid" and least good is "Rotorblade". Bom!

freak51
"230 000 Miles", "Fuel On" and "Black Rain" are excellent tracks, and sound excellent even over 5 years later. In the right mood, even Rotorblade works well. If you're after some old-school back-catalogue chewns, this one's worth a go.

Guest SF local 420
The best DJ mixed PsyTrance CD ever?Maybe, maybe not.Definetly the best of the Deck Wizards series and the best mix I've ever heard from Tsuyoshi. If you are lucky enough to come across it,i highly recommend picking it up.This release is entirely Old-School and is nearly impossible to tire of.8/
