Children
Tarsis - Vacuum Artist: Tarsis Title: Vacuum Label: Spirit Zone Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 07'36" Snake 02. 08'25" Toxication 03. 09'42" Ectoplasma 04. 07'34" Trip 05. 08'31" Psychologic FX (Afternoon Mix) 06. 05'01" Electropolis 07. 07'29" Atomic Children 08. 05'57" After Darkness 09. 07'04" Into The Static 10. 06'04" Vacuum Review: Not a Bad album ... I can't say that's minimalist, cause there are more melodies than in usual minimalist stuff, but that's not very psychedelic ... But I don't really like this style ... that's not bad, but not unforgettable ... Anyway this one is BETTER than their second album : Melt ! Rating : 4.5/
freak51
I respectfully disagree. The Snake, Toxication, Electropolis and (especially) Atomic Children work really well for me. 8/10.
Guest [Anonymous]
This is an excellent album, but only if you're into the more "Progressive" side of Goa. The only thing I'm not clear on is why it's being reviewed now?
Guest a_ozi
Intelligent layered n' evolvin' percussion, and smooth progressive sound transitions... not 'necessarily' the best, but definitely playable. Good production. Some trax on this stand out - 1,5,7,9, with 2 And 4(on a train) being pretty good 2. Also i think MELT is an evolution of their sound which i can live with. Guest agibson684[at]earthlink[dot]net
Snake goes nowhere. Toxication starts slow and builds into quite a rhythmic wonder with some nice reverbed/stacatoed blurbs and stabs across the soundfield. It finishes up with a nice bouncey percussive flow complementing the bassline. Nice! Ectoplasm's intro is nice and nicely develops into a track that fails to do anything but perpetuate a cliched eerie synth line. Try again or remix. On a Train/Trip offers about as much to the ear as listening to an actual train travelling across its tracks. Ugh. Psychological FX picks up the pace a bit and has a handful of nice sounds both synth and percussive but doesn't really peak out or break any new ground. Electropolis is a fairly good electro breakish track that could use more excitement. Now we come to the pay off, Atomic Children is BY FAR the meat and potatoes of this album. This is one of the only tracks that has a meaty foundation to build a dancefloor igniter and boy does it set me off! Good job! After darkness keeps things moving quite nicely! Nice melodic combinations here with a with a strong percussive flow. I'm awake now. Into the Static has my attention from its beginning and the cymbal work keeps me in focus. I have to give some kudos to the percussion sounds found throughout the album. Okay I'm about halfway through the static and things are getting a little dull now. Come on now...okay, the bass line takes a little twist after the break and the soft padded keys give some nice atmosphere. Hmm...decent track. It's missing something...ah yes...here comes the nice melodic acid. Not too bad...I can appreciate it! Vacuum gives us a nice downbeat break merging with a 4/4 beat and some nice atmospheric keys along with a stacatoed/chopped bassline. It breaks into a beautiful openness and a gentle female voiced chorus (delicate). Ahh, this is nice. Finishes up this way. All in all, 6.5/

Guest Mr Anonymous
Tarsis comes up as one of my favourite band, simply because they are versatile and they make great music! Snake is so deep, so spiritual... those guyz have something to transmit thru their music... no commercial shit... Long life to Tarsis

Celaripo
listening to it right now it is certainly not bad for 1998 a bit repetitive though but i guess that is how the sound was intended to be - laid back stuff for sure
Blair Thaumic
Maybe my favorite "proggy" psytrance album. Though it's more spacy than proggy.
