Guest Stormbringer
Sven Snug - Verscharft / Fiebertraum Artist: Sven Snug Title: Verscharft / Fiebertraum Label: Interzone Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. Verscharft 02. Fiebertraum Review: Interzone is a new Swiss label and the question is if they´ll try to follow in the footsteps of some other label or if they´ll start something fresh. This first release by Sven Snug doesn´t impress me much though. I hope they will come up with something more interesting in the future, and perhaps the second release with Paste will be better? I´ve heard parts of that release and it sounds pretty promising so I haven´t given up on this new label yet. "Verschärft" (2/10) is boring. I hate to use that word in my reviews but I don´t know any other way to discribe this minimal, monotonous and grinding track. If I´ll ever hear this when I´m out dancing I´ll then leave the dancefloor. The first half of "Verschärft" sounds like an intro and the second half sounds pretty much the same way but the beat changes a bit. This track is like a never ending story and when it´s finally over I only feel relief. Some might find me mean because I say these things about this new label but you should know that I´m allways honest at any cost. "Fiebertraum" (2/10) sounds completely different and it´s pretty close to the more commercial clubtrance in some aspects. This track has the same problems as the A-side of this ep even though the tracks sound so different. It´s really really boring! After the two first minutes you´ve heard it all and then it´s just a loop that´s going on forever. I really hope there´s someone out there who can say something nice about this release because I sure can´t do that. This is one of the worst psytrance purchases I´ve ever made. Listening to this ep reminds me of the SPK "Leichenschrei" album which was terrible by the way. It had an eternal track at the end that almost drove me and my friend mad before we realized it was never going to end :-) I get the same awful feeling from both the tracks on this ep as from that album. Is this record really that bad? Well, you´ll just have to listen to it for yourselfs to detirmine that, but I sure don´t like it. Sorry!!!
