Guest LaGoaTrance
Genetic - We Are ... Genetic Artist: Genetic Title: We Are ... Genetic Label: Dragonfly Date: 1998 Track listing: 01. 08'23" Floor 02. 07'55" Gala 03. 07'38" Uptown Downtown 04. 05'54" Transmission 05. 06'30" Change 06. 05'26" Drop The Bomb 07. 01'00" Fat Boy 08. 04'39" 42nd Street Hustle 09. 06'20" Lexus 10. 07'35" Analogico Review: First album from Genetic. Genetic is Paul Jackson (UK) who make Trance since the beginning. He was a Member of Juno Reactor and he's also Voodoo People. As usual with Genetic you will find a lot of style in this album. First track is "Floor", a very good dark psychedelic trance track with sometimes to time a nice organ sound effect. Don't miss this classic track. Track 2, "Gala" was written with Mike Maguire, psychedelic trance sounds with an original beat. Very nice. Track 3, "Uptown downtown" is a down-tempo track maybe a little boring. Track 4, "Transmission"...what to say ? probably one of the 10 Goa tracks that everybody know. Transsmission was released in 1993 (!!!) on the first Dragonfly LP. I've heard it 2567 times but I still enjoy it..... Track 5, "Change" is a psychedelic eltro-trance track...curious, not bad. Track 6, "Drop the bomb" is another good dark psychedelic trance track. Track 7, "Fat boy" is a one minute track, then comes Track 8, "42nd street hustle" wich is a Jazz track !!!!!!!....hey everybody, first time a jazz track is reviewed here !!! :-p Track 9, "Lexus" co-written with Xavier Morel is a powerfull psytrance track. Last track, "Analogico" is an psychedelic electronic track with TB303 and 808/909 sounds. So, an album you must discover. If you only like psytrance you will like tracks 1,2,4,6,9, and if you want to have others experiences you will enjoy others tracks.
seraph
Some kinda intresting album but nothing spectacular....The concept is good and it's chemical feel to it is allright...But there are lots of not that interesting songs on it...Although best on album are : FLOOR, TRANSMISSION, DROP THE BOMB, LEXUS AND ANALOGICO...6/
.desiml
Paul Jackson is the man. This & his album Motion Picture (2000), are some of my favorite stuff to listen to. Very minimal, "listening trance," as I like to call it. The rompers are split up by breaky electro tracks which really make the album cohesive. Too often are trance albums the same 7 or 8 full-on tracks followed by 1 downtempo track (BORING). Beautifully programmed analogue synthesizers float in and out of existance with a very sly, back-alley swagger. Very fun stuff to listen to. If you appreciate the original analogue sound, (most of the voices here would fit perfectly on a Klaus Schulze or Jean-Michel Jarre album from the late 70's) you will thuroughly enjoy this. Truely wonderful stuff. 9/10.
