Guest MK
V/A - Winter Session Artist: Various Title: Winter Session Label: Databass Date: 2001 Track listing: 01. 05'47" Bebop : Nowhere To Go 02. 06'31" Klan : Ferment Musical 03. 07'13" Paps : Do You Know ? 04. 07'37" Tripiatrik : Circonflexe 05. 06'11" Yumade : In My Room 06. 06'47" Kent And Tone : Melon Ghost 07. 06'30" Dardan : Highland Strings 08. 06'32" Face : In Da Machine (Rmx) 09. 08'14" Tripiatrik : Circonflexe (Magus Rmx) Review: "Everything will be all right...you are in my hands...I am here to protect you...you have no-where to go..." Bebop (aka Droidlock) gets this show on the road - Minimal, rich and psychedelic; so the album continues thru this path, exploring many different styles (trip-hop, house, tribal) but still staying true to psychedelic tastes. Many weird filters, samples, sounds, phat beats and crisp production techniques shine thru on this CD. Only 2 trax from this comp had been released b4 : the Paps & Tripiatrik trax - but 1st time for these to be available on CD. I am a big fan of this sound and have enjoyed most releases from the Yumade/Paps/SAAB/Droidlock crew - it's good to see they are constantly evolving and are still able to create such wicked sounscapes. My favourite compilation for the year --every track complementing the next - not just a random bunch of songs--a real spin-out The Databass crew are pioneers and educators in space & sound, and are showing their mastery on how to combine the 2. 9/

Guest Ash
I'm suprised so few have actually heard this CD or just not bothered to review it. As said above, it's a great compilation, on the twisted side but full of musical leaps and technical bleeps. I have to agree and say best compilation for 2001 9.8/10 - (slightly ahead of Solar Seeds) & loses some points for the final mastering (the sound is great overall) it has some bad moments at the start of a couple of tracks. Nomad
Along with solar seeds and otherwise this is the best release of the last 6 months IMO. Every track is fat, heavy and psychedelic...what more do you need to know
Setsuko
indeed this cd is awesome ..... when i heared it first it didn't realy impress me , but ..... after several listens this cd was growing on me , and once i played this Winter Session extremely loud and it rulez !!!!! groove power guaranteed ... and it doen't get bored at all . there are some mastering mistakes with the outro and intro in some tracks but this is the only negative aspect ... the coverdesign is nice too , a bit minimalistic but with aesthetic graphic skills .... good work , highlights are track 4,5,7 and the bonustrack by Magus .... i'm realy looking forward to hear more. 8,5/
