Guest rx7style
Bamboo Forest - XPlorer Artist: Bamboo Forest Title: XPlorer Label: Dragonfly Date: 2000 Track listing: 01. Vekto 02. XPlorer Review: Another great release from these psychedelic Francophone_s 8^) I absolutely love the style of Bamboo Forest, and always buy their releases as they integrate so well into any psytrance set, are guaranteed to rock the dance floor, and crack a big smile on your face! Vekto takes a little while to really get going, as the beginning is dark and atmospheric, and then after a minute the nice fat beats come in. From there on in, it's a roller coaster of mind bending effects, syncopated rhythms, and great sonic manipulation. Crunchy sounds similar to GMS [and like in Shakta _ Kick The Baby], but not overdone like GMS. There's never really any breaks, but you get a kick drum, some high-hat, bass line and beats in a few places, then the kick ass crazy, dark melodic crunchy sounds start whirling around again and the track ends with some nice darker atmospheric sounds. Great variation in this track... a joy to listen to, 9.5/10. Xplorer starts off sounding like old-school atmospheric goa intros used to, and wastes no time getting to the nitty-gritty. Very melodic again, but in a darker sense which I absolutely love. More phasor effects, very innovative and unique -- sounds that I don't really hear with many other artists... similar to a Digitalis/Shakta style, but not so full-on. Around the middle of the track, there's lots of bleeps and computer noises, tastefully and musically inserted, that add to the craziness of the track. A big break in the middle leads into more hard bass line and then the track really kicks into that crunchy Bamboo Forest style, with dark melodies. Mmmmmm, so very very very good, 9.5/10. Another classic release in my opinion, combining the best of so many sub-genres of psytrance into one harmonious blend. Well done Bamboo Forest.
