if by intelligent you mean something you can listen to 500 times in a row and never grow tired of it, I have to say the two Shpongle albums are in their own category. Infected come as a distant second, then Total Eclipse.

for me the prize goes to the first shpongle album, both hallucinogen albums and the second infected album for sure.

Yeah Classical Mushroom was definitely very intricate/complex, and didn't get boring as long as BPEmpire does.

 

I forgot to mention the Ozric Tentacles and The Fireman's (Paul McCartney and Youth) 2nd album, Rushes.

 

Pretty crappy website, but it has a few samples (doesn't do the album justice, though)

The Fireman is just as "intelligent" as Shpongle, IMO, and Shpongle's my favorite, so hopefully that means something.

Intelligent? I guess you mean those artists that you rarely find boring, those who keeps evolving and allways (almost) brings you new interesting tracks, and those who have original ideas? If that's the case, my selection would be:
