Guest jota
The first trance music came a very long time ago...when sound was first created. whatever does it for you. Me, i like the psychedelic vibes but shit man, listen to some classical...some of the tranciest stuff...and every indigenous people on every continent have some wicked rituals with super trance...well before the 90's. If you don't like the club music...don't go to the club or make some yourself and play it.
Guest stringtheory
I must say, that ATB club trance stuff is pure crap. Nothing complex or reedeeming about it. It should not be called trance. It is club music. Very big difference. There are some excellent progressive DJ's out there...i.e. Jimmy Van M, Timo Mass, and Scott Henry. But slap happy dance music bores the piss out of me. That being said...to each his/her own. Most people don't have the attention span for psytrance. A little out of their league. Easier to bob their heads to meaningless crap for a couple of hours, and then go home and listen to their latest N'Sync CD.
Guest stringtheory
I wish the author of this topic would have explained what he meant by club trance. If he is referring to the ATB Empire of Cheese stuff....then I can understand some of his point. ATB stuff is not trance. It is cheese....with a side of house thrown in for good measure. Now if he is referring to guys like Timo Mass and Jimmy Van M....then he is doing them a great disservice because those guys make, and spin good music. And their sets are well thought out and very precise. He did go a bit overboard with his statement though. Saying people are sellouts and brainwashed was not neccessary, and not very nice.
