The whole psy-trance scene in Europe is going in the wrong direction, especially in Belgium. Lots of psy-trance festivals are cancelled all over Europe…….. What is going wrong here? Cops all over the place, undercover and in uniform. Police Patrols everywhere………. Something else: @ senseblender 2002, the showers where completely destroyed. The jumping castle (for the little kids) was destroyed too. Someone was steeling our deco and blacklights…………. And I have so much more things I can tell. Can someone explain me what is going wrong here. I’m sad, real sad. This is wrong!!!!! Believe me. Guest Setsuko Posted August 12, 2002 Share Posted August 12, 2002 well Quasarta ... the one and only explanation ... the essence is gone ... to many people link psytrance parties to big overdose drugged parties .. the spirit is wasted ... like @ Senseblender .. those enoying laughing gas balloons were disgusting .. just a question ? the guy who sold the balloons got acces with his car right next to the dance area .. what was that all about ?????? but people stealing decorations and destorying showers are not welkom , the deco was amazing... the PLUR hype has become trendy and mainstream .. glowsticks vs. spirituality .. to me the itchy - scratchy full-on 3dvision - gms style is the reason ... the music sounds so ridiculous and mdma-like ... agressive without any point .. just lame ... the best parties and vibe to me here in Belgium are the AFU and Baboun parties in Ghent ... and Tranceplant events ... but don't give up ... just don't fake a be yourself , be creative ... It's like someone blaming progressive music for bringing too much coke into the scene. its a shame its got like that in Belgium, I guess its one of the blessings of having a small scene in the Netherlands that the senseless minority is also very small. I really don't see what that has to do with your original argument. I agree with you that a night of all 3d-vision/gms stuff is boring, but so is a night of only iboga/difital structures stuff. My point is that you cannot blame the music for anti-social behaviour. Society is to blame for that; there is a minority in every area of life that are intent on spoiling it for others, whether its football or psytrance. The larger a scene becomes, the more noticable the minority becomes, just look at what has been happening in Mexico with the parties there. Having said that, I don't think its a bad thing this wonderful music is getting more popular. For every 1 new convert that brings bad energy to this scene, there are 20 more who's lives are changed in a positive way because of it. Guest Setsuko Posted August 13, 2002 Share Posted August 13, 2002 .. i've been thinking about this subject very much lately .. and now Quasarta came up with it .. now i have to put another opinion ... to me , the regression of the psytrance scene is caused by the use of drugs .. no doubt .. in the beginning of the '60 people were experimenting with al sorts of drugs ... i don't think i'll have to make another '60 story . no just this ... why did the spirit of the '60 fade away .. well , that's because people (not everybody) got a fucked up brain from abuse and the drugs weren't as powerfull as the were in the beginning of the experiment .. then due to politics and the world of materialism people got addicted to money and so goodbye the hippie community ... in the psytrance beginning of '90 .. same story , believe me ... the drugs don't work anymore ... there isn't any innovation anymore except abuse .. so thats' what happens .. BIG regression .. even if some people try to put all their efforts into a new and refreshing party ... nothing will be the same just like in the end of the hippie ages ... for me ... i got introduced with psytrance in '99 .. I never got the "real" goa-spirit feeling .. i got a slight intention of how things would have going on (but i just loved the partuies and music ) .. now the parties are way to big .. smell of money thingy .. and peolpe always complain about high entrance .. the losts of giving a party .. bla bla bla... it will never be the same ... but that doesn't mean we have to keep on complaining and bitchin' about those things .. NO ! just party like you were used to ... have fun .. enjoy the new grooves and fat monotonious basses .. he he ... even when all this is commercial ... like Samothraki - but I don't care .. i want to have a huge time there on that island ... I'd agree with you if you said the *abuse* of drugs, rather than the *use* of them; but this goes back to what I was saying about the minority. Setsuko, I got into this music in 1994, just in time for the peak in its popularity (certainly in the UK), it was the big thing then, massive parties every week, with an amazing vibe (which in my experience has never been matched). and guess what, to paraphrase the great bill hicks... *everyone* was *real* fucking high on drugs. The difference then was that the music was fresh and positive, the drugs amplified this positivity creating an electric atmosphere. Like the D'n'B and many others .. after a few years of succesfull underground the smell of money comes in ... the good part imo is we now get extremelty quality psytrance due to the more commercial influence ... marketing technics .. beautifull covers etc. ... the way things are going now musicwise is so great ... the new Human Blue / Saiko - Pod / Cross Link and many others ... but the partyvibe is still alive in me ... and many others , so indeed lets prove this under the Greek sun within a few days ... psy bye :-) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
