Guest bassfreak
just found this: http://www.iol.co.za/index.php?click_id=5&...67B216&set_id=9 Marseille - Thousands of techno revellers outwitted French police on Thursday by taking their rave, banned in France, up an Alpine mountain and cranking up their sound systems just over the border in Italy. After playing a game of cat-and-mouse with French police overnight, about three thousand ravers began their "Teknival", planned to take place "somewhere in the south of France", about 2 000m altitude on the Col de Larche mountain, said officials. Wrapped up in warm clothes, the ravers set up their sound systems on Italian territory about 200m from France and began to party on both sides of the unfenced border - their music equipment beyond the clutches of French police. Under a new French law, organisers of raves involving more than 250 people must give the local prefect's office at least one month's notice of their plans, or else have their sound systems confiscated. The law is aimed at making sure police and medical services are on hand to ensure security at raves, which are often associated with drug-taking. Local officials were annoyed the party organisers had decided to go up the mountain. "If they want to show their sense of responsibility, they've chosen the wrong place," said Stephane Rouve, deputy prefect in the Alpes de Haute Provence region. "This is not the ideal place for a rave." The ravers say the new law is repressive. They hope 20 000 people will join the party, due to go on until Sunday. Guest will
BBC NEWS - Friday, 16 August, 2002, 00:00 GMT 01:00 UK French ravers force police to retreat ------------------------------------------------------------------------ French police have abandoned efforts to prevent angry young ravers reaching a techno party on an Italian mountain after one officer was injured by a flying rock. The French party-goers were heading for the Teknival rave on the Col de Larche mountain, just inside the Italian border, when they hit a road blockade erected by police. Clashes broke out on the road which leads to the border, with riot police using teargas to drive back the ravers, who threw rocks and stones at the officers. After an officer was hit in the head and taken to hospital by helicopter, the prefect of the Alps Haute-Provence region ordered the officers to retreat. Circumventing the law The rave was originally to have been held in France, but organisers had to find a new venue after a tough new French anti-rave law came into force at the beginning of May. Under the law, raves involving more than 250 people must seek approval from the local authorities at least one month in advance or risk having their sound systems confiscated. Correspondents say such authorisations have proved hard to come by. To circumvent the new rules, organisers decided to place their systems just 200 metres inside the Italian border, with the party itself taking place on both the French and the Italian side of the border. French police have no authority to confiscate music systems outside of French territory. Around 7,000 people have already set up camp at the mountain location, and around 20,000 more are expected to gather over the next few days for the party, which ends on Sunday. Special medical teams trained in substance abuse are on hand to inform, and if necessary treat, the party-goers. ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest v4K
It's the cause that move us Sukanta, not the music preference v4K
Guest will
sukanta : point taken but it is all relevant to the cause, it is the authorities / party relationship that is interesting. Even legalities concerning an outdoor rock concert cancelled would be of interest to psy trance party organisers. <<<<>>> french technoheads are kicking ass...... it is time people started standing up for their rights. Society is getting more repressive as time goes on. PEOPLE ARE BEING DENIED THEIR RIGHT TO ASSEMBLY........
