Where does psychedelic music originate? and how does it progress to what we have today?

well I gather it all depends on what you think is psy music... if you really want it probably goes back to the beginning of mankind whn Shamans tok natural herbs and shrooms etc. to speak to the dead whilst the tial musicians plant trance rythms on logs etc.
