focus on the music ...

When there is music playing ... psytrance or techno or any other form of music (but especially psy) that is the main thing i focus on ... actually i don't even need to focus .... when there is music, music is all i can hear ... it even troubles me to have a good conversation sometimes ... mostly i don't miss out on a single tune ... i'm like the dude that stops talking right in the middle of a conversation (depends ofcourse! ;) and says ... "wait a minute, listen to this sound" (very anoying, i know ;;) but this only happends with new music)

Now... even when i urge my friends to listen to a particular sound, or even a complete song, i see them getting unfocused on the music and back into something else ... and they miss out on it completely ... no problem ofcourse :) there choice is my understanding ... but even roling a joint, talking with a friend and seeing someone do things ... anyone can ask me something about the music that played, known or unknown ... i've always heared it ...

so ... how is this with you - and with your friends ...

that's it, it happens all the time.

i'm the kind of person who will be talkin with a girl in a festival and i will suddenly dissapear because of logic bomb-dropout or xdream-universal chaos or something like that (you know the feeling)

other than that there is no problem with others not paying attention in some particular moment as this sometimes happens to everyone. sometimes the 'did you hear this' and 'did you hear that' thing is a bit disturbing for people who are really into something else at a particular moment.

music is great, it is a tool. use it

Janua, that sounds very familiar;

I'm a deep listener, i don't miss a single sound when i'm listening to music, especially with goa, the bass, the weird sounds, the hihats, oh boy i'm hooked on hihats! And when i'm with somebody and there's music on i always feel the urge to explain the music, like, woow, listen to this and that..etc..sometimes they understand, sometimes they are like 'yes, it's indeed a good song, but they miss things in the song, hmmz, hard to explain, like for example : Oforia -Alien Pump (sabotage rmx), when i put this on, some people don't like it until 5min when the uplifting sound comes, and then they're like (in dutch), 'woow, fel nummerke',while i'm trapped in the delicious break, hihats, etc...

And i HATE it soooooo so much when a song is playing and someone suddenly just sets it off, like its just a hitsingle, NEVER just stop a song, it's the worst thing you can do, and not very healthy for me :o)

thats pretty-much what I'm talking about in this thread, but hey I'll contribute..

Stimulating music distracts me from everything else, and my friends just don't get it - they're too restless to actually stop talking and entertaining eachother to sit back and listen most of the time, and Janua, one of the things you said really hit home:

You'll be listening to something, and it seems like they're paying attention as well, but right when something incredible is happening they'll start talking about some random bs, which totally flattens me, having thought they were finally floating in thier own mind, watching/hearing these sounds synergize and morph and flow together, but seeing that they weren't indeed paying hardly any attention.

Sometimes I wish they'd stop teasing me by pretending they're actually hearing it, and pretending they appreciate the sounds.

A lot of the time my not-so-psy friends will actually start groovin to psy-music but then they'll start pointing out the sounds they're listening to, saying things like "that guitar is awesome!"

Come on......... there's much cooler shit going on than that guitar!!

LISTEN DEEPER, dammit!! :)

This is why psy parties rock! You hang with your friends, talking about stuff, and when a song you like comes on, it's perfectly OK to completely drop out of the conversation mid-sentence. Plus, if there's a song you want a friend to hear, when it starts, you say, "Hey, check out this song!" and they usually do, silently, dancing, until the end.
