Guest r2d2
This is response to lespagnol who really don't know who Ka-Sol is and was asking about him. I didn't want to answer in Elixir's thread since this requires whole new topic:) If you don't know who Ka-Sol is, you are really missing out. He (Krister Lundstrom or sometimes called Lulle) released for Boom! records and especially Schlabbaduerst Rekkords. His projects are Ka-Sol, Signal, Phlat Phase and so on... His music is sooooo crazy, psychedelic, powerful and very, very original. I'm talking heavy beats, layered and stuffed with mad psychedelic riffs. If you heaven't heard it you MUST hear Schlab compilations and I'd strongly suggest you start with Schlab 002 and then others. There are no words to describe his music accurately but you have to hear it to beleave how good that is. I think the only way to get his music is to order it directly from Schlab. Am I right D-Dave? Now I only hope that Matt Boom! or someone else decides to release his album. That would be awsome.
Guest D-Dave
Yes its true, you can only get Ka-SoL from Schlabbaduerst. (ahem... http://listen.to/Schlab) They did release 2 more tracks I think, "Professor Mephisto" on Scandosounds 1 from BooM records and "Earth" on a swedish compilation. Ka-SoL doesnt sound like anyone else, the production isnt as DJ-friendly as say GMS... and there are a lot of psychedelic noise. If you like stoned or TRIPPY music taking it to the limit, and you are not scared of going to a place where you have no control, then Ka-SoL is for you. If you like that kind of music you are really missing out if you havent heard Ka-SoL. I play a lot of Ka-SoL when I DJ and it works so well on the dancefloor even though it doesnt have the killer bassline and the murderous kick, it works in a different way, something everybody in this scene would be better off hearing. There are alternatives to the progressive minimal style, also to the full-on style. If you are bored with the new releases, check out Ka-SoL for something completely different. BooM is not likely to release Ka-SoL, it is not "boomable" music, ie its too weird. Jonas from Stone Age Records keeps talking about releasing a Ka-SoL album and afaik he planned it for this autumn. If not we will release a CD on Schlabbaduerst. I have so much brilliant Ka-SoL material.
Guest r2d2
Oh so you will release Ka-Sol if Jonas doesn't. Wow these are GOOOOD NEWS:) I can hardly wait. I'll buy 2 copies so I can sell one in 5 years for big bucks:) Man, Ka-Sol (and whole Schlab crew) makes unbeleavable psychedelia. Any news about BOTFB album? Also, D-Dave did you get my e mail from few weeks ago? Cheers
Guest D-Dave
The BOTFB album is coming, the master was faulty though so Boom had to send another one. They may also delay the release a bit so it wont interfere too much with Scandosounds 3. Cant say a date but I hope its out in a month. Hm, is that you E.M.? If so, thanks a lot for the T-shirt and sorry for not replying to the mail, I´ll do that later.
Guest r2d2
Oh so that's why new BOTFB album is not released yet. I guess it's right not to release it now since I'm sure it would kill Scandosounds 3 (musically and market wise) ...and yeah this is me. Glad you got the shirt (wasn't sure I got your address right)........ the e mail was actually about something else but not too important so it can wait. ..damn I can hardly wait for Ka-Sol album:)
Guest Selim
Question: what's the origin of the name "Ka-SoL"?
Järsimähäiriö
Answer: Kasol is a village in Parvati Valley, India.
Guest D-Dave
No, that answer is wrong Mähä! And besides, the guys spell it Ka-SoL and not Kasol. The name came to one of the guys, Jens, in a dream! It doesnt mean anything. It was only later they found out it was a village in India. They have never been there but I think they´d like it. Guest p
Professor Mephisto - I am afraid to let my "normal" friends to know that I listen to that that track It's not like the usual "flying in a spaceship" trance, more like spinning, swirling and tumbling inside a night-time toronado. Guest D-Dave
Yeah, but what is it that is so scary with the Schlabbaduerst music in other peoples ears? I know people think its too much, that they cant take it. What is there not to take? Its just sounds. I dont get it. I´d be very happy if someone could explain it. Guest r2d2
I don't think there's too much to explain:) Sometimes it takes little time for person's ears to 'trained' by something new. This happen to me with Psy Harmonics back in the '90s. I didn't like them until one day I finally "got it" and loved it ever since:) I guess as people get more used to Schlab sounds and Schlab gets more exposure, people will be more "trained". I mean currently you basically have that "minimal tech/housey repetative" and "I'll copy it from someone else full on" styles and masses are used to that, and different sound will take time to gain popularity. Of course, it didn't take me much time at all to like Schlab: As a matter of fact, I didn't know what hit me first time I heard it:)
Guest p
First time I heard BOTFB (Tigerhill!) & Ka-Sol tunes I was all smiles. Maybe it's the nordic thing: deep forests and caves here too. Or maybe just some kind of type of person thing. I don't think these tunes are too much at all! In fact yesterday morning I found Mephisto quite weak Then I realised that I remembered only the last 2 mins. Anyway keep it up and don't back-pedal!
