ritual om
i really like progressive(antix, atmos, freq etc).especially before a month i attended a party and it had a huge impact on me. i want to get deeper with this style. i'd like you to reccommend me the 5 most essential albums of this genre so far.it will be my last purchase before the army. PS.1. i give lot of credit in the melodic line of the tracks->this means i don't like too minimal tracks...(freq-strange attractors kicks ass:melodic, uplifting and not too clubby). PS.2. i don't like much the house-ish vocal samples used in quite a few progressive tracks.
Maxx
check out s-range album 2001,and vibrasphere-echo.
qa2pir
Boris Blenn - Source of Emotion That's progressive for ya.
Tatsu
If you like progressive with melodies then you have to give Lish - Free Fall a try. I'm not that much into progressive but I really love this album. Jaia - Fiction and Matenda - Tunnel Vision are also very nice.
lumpi
I got a bit bored with the progressive stuff lately and therefore slightly lost track of it and melodic progressive never was my favourite anyway. But perhaps "Gaudium - Nordic Nature" could fit your taste.

GreatThinker
Top Progressive Albums: 1) Antix - Lull 2) Phony Orphants - Symphony 3) Vibrasphere - Archipelagos 4) Atmos - 2nd Brigade 5) Etnoscope - Drums from the dawn of time 6) Gaudium - Nordic Nature 7) Noma - Navigator 8) Paste - Blow Out 9) Tegma - Encoded/Decoded 10) SBK - Hertzattacke Majority of these albums are a couple of years old. The new stuff isn't as good as it used to be IMO.
pr0fane
Neelix - No Way To Leave (this one has loads of vocals but they fit 100% ) 519652 Couldn't disagree more. In my opinion the worst use of vocals on a progressive album in 2005.
pr0fane
For progressive with lots of melodies check out: 12 Moons - Solid State Vibrasphere - Lime Structure Vibrasphere - Archipelago Vibrasphere - Echo Human Blue - Electrolüx Human Blue - Electric Roundabout Ticon - Aero Ticon - Zero Six After Jaïa - Fiction Andromeda - Sensations Andromeda - Temptations Yotopia - Point Blank Lish - Free Fall S>Range - 2001 S>Range - Space Vatos Locos - Attack And Release
traveller
Couldn't disagree more. In my opinion the worst use of vocals on a progressive album in 2005. 519699 Maybe you didnt listen to it enough For progressive with lots of melodies check out: 12 Moons - Solid State Vibrasphere - Lime Structure Vibrasphere - Archipelago Vibrasphere - Echo Human Blue - Electrolüx Human Blue - Electric Roundabout Ticon - Aero Ticon - Zero Six After Jaïa - Fiction Andromeda - Sensations Andromeda - Temptations Yotopia - Point Blank Lish - Free Fall S>Range - 2001 S>Range - Space Vatos Locos - Attack And Release 519702 Now I must comment on your list Vibrasphere is probably the most overrated prog act ever Human Blue isnt that interesting either nor is SRange Andromeda is awesome but the first album has imo very sucky mastering or smth Yotopia and Lish I havent heard.. 12 moons.. afai remember its nothing special either ..Vatos Locos is more like fool on IMO
pr0fane
Maybe you didnt listen to it enough 519706 I heard plenty. I sadly bought the album without checking out samples or downloading mp3's beforehand - big mistake. When the original poster said he didn't want too many vocals, I just think the latest Neelix-album wasn't the best suggestion, since it's so heavy on very distinct vocals. But of course it's all a matter of taste. Now I must comment on your list Vibrasphere is probably the most overrated prog act ever Human Blue isnt that interesting either nor is SRange Andromeda is awesome but the first album has imo very sucky mastering or smth Yotopia and Lish I havent heard.. 12 moons.. afai remember its nothing special either ..Vatos Locos is more like fool on IMO 519706 Again it's all a matter of taste, so I can't really respond to any of your comments. One thing about the Vatos Locos album though - it's indeed a mix of progressive and full on, but apart from one track running at 145 BPM ("Acid Maria") it's actually SLOWER than your beloved Neelix
traveller
Yeah but Neelix does not really have any singing.. just use of vocals. There is a difference. Anyways about Vatos Locos.. afai remember almost all the tracks on that album have that awful rolling fool on bassline thing going. I could be wrong.. But yes taste taste taste. Many people seem to be so fond of Vibrasphere. IMO apart from a few nicey chill tunes there is really nothing to them..

Basilisk
Avoid the Neelix album at all costs. My review trashing the vocals Top 5 prog albums for people not too into prog: Etnoscope - Drums from the Dawn of Time Jaia - Fiction Luna Spice - Reflexion Matenda - Tunnel Vision Ticon - Zero Six After
traveller
Didn`t like the samples eh? Imo they play a important part on the album.. like in "no way to leave.. no way to leave" for example
faze
Wow, such conflicting opinions on these albums from several people whose opinions I respect here. Just goes to show you how different we can all be.

Tox
Since everybody here is giving the same recommendations I'll try something different. Check out ANYTHING from these labels: Digital Structures: (Son Kite, Jaïa, Ticon...) Spiral Trax (Gaudium, Atmos, Vibrapshere...) Iboga (Phoney Orphants, FREq, Flowjob...) Plastik Park & Avalanche : Progressive for the clubs Most of these act evolved form more Minimal Trance in the past (harder & darker) to the new progressive: more melodic layers & sometimes even housey. Some older albums that deserve everybody's full attention: -SBK: Treibstoff -Element: Full Moon (nearly every track has vocals, but they're amazingly not annoying ) -Haldolium: H2 The most anticipated album for this year will probably be the full debut of Liquid Soul (on Iboga)
sherlockalien
The most anticipated album for this year will probably be the full debut of Liquid Soul (on Iboga) 520271 most antecipated album for this year is for sure Trentemoller (imo).. but thats not prog trance.. more like.. damn, hard to define haha.. sometimes its laidback house, sometimes electro house, sometimes minimal electro, sometimes its more techish.. or smt .. but what matters is its fking good
