Shaft Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Never heard chicane - behind the sun What's it sound like? Cream of progressive house and downtempo. Saltwater is probably one of the most played tracks and has been featured on just about every compilation that showcases the 'best' of trance. Overlap and Low Sun are extremely good ambient/easy listening tracks which again have been showcased to death. Autumn Tactics is one of my favourite tracks - very housey with a strong vocal lead - and then you have the Thrillseekers remix of Saltwater which is pretty stunning. I got the two disc special edition (2003) on special at HMV (impulse buy) and I've been spinning at least one track/day from the album. Quality work. Recommend if you love summery music, progressive, house, club trance at it's best - in no way do I find it's cheesy or pretentious. Quote

I never checked them out because I knew the name & always thought it was pop trance. Quote
Shaft Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Cheers, looks like it might be worth checking out. I never checked them out because I knew the name & always thought it was pop trance. Well if you mean 'popular' trance then you're absolutely right. It's a very easy album to get into and like, which is why it's perfect for the summer. But it's by no means cheesy. Quote

I always thought this was kiddie trance, like ATB, gatecrasher stuff Quote
Shaft Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I always thought this was kiddie trance, like ATB, gatecrasher stuff Oh no, it's not like that at all. Best thing with music is not to assume and read up on releases before judging them. Samples are generally the best way. Anyway I recommend you try the album - should have at least one track you'll like there. Quote

I always, well almost always dislike samples so I have stopped listening to them & have to rely on advice. Quote
Shaft Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I always, well almost always dislike samples so I have stopped listening to them & have to rely on advice. Well I usually will go on both. General process: EITHER: 1a. Read review on Psynews. OR: 1b. Check Saikosounds / Psyshop / Other Store for samples. THEN: 2. Dig around for reviews on the Internet. 3. Sometimes post a topic about the CD(s) in question. 4. Ask friends about the release on MSN. 5. Generally CDs from a year or two back have something written about them, so the 'Search' function comes in handy. THEN: 6a. Buy the release! OR: 6b. Defer the release to a later time if not completely sure about purchase. THEN: 7a. Go to 6a. 7b. Don't buy the release! Quote
abasio Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 I buy a CD listen to it for a few years if I like it I keep it, if I don't trade it. Probably not the most efficient way but it works for me Quote

Yard Hippie Posted July 2, 2009 Posted July 2, 2009 Music has little relation to seasons to me. I find it highly seasonal personally, just curious whether you find the same with morning trance, night time killer tracks etc? Quote
psytimeofmylife Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 Peacespeakers - Message from planet earth A bit jazzier, but still very downtempo. Don't know why, but I can imagine myself in a bar with a beer (or maybe something more with style - a cocktail?) and just slowly drinking it, listening to the album while watching the sea. Maybe also some deep philosophical debates.. hm . Quote
RTP Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Abasio, try Chilling Matenda ... Mediteran is a very summerish album ... but also his first one, Chilling Matenda. Check 'em Quote
